I'm not sure if this is rhetorical to prove a point (if it is I'd love to be clued in because I don't remember the start of eklund), but his dedicated site definitely had something to do with that. He marketed himself as a product, being anonymous and whatnot. Love or hate him, he perfectly played his following into a business. This post has no point really, just an observation of how he differs in a unique way

It’s not rhetorical and you’re mainly right. He just kept saying the same thing over and over, for like a year, until one day he was right. People who defended him said ‘well, he’s just saying what he’s hearing, why is that a problem?’ and people decided he was right after being wrong a million times in a row, and gave him enough attention for no materially sound reason until people inside the industry decided they could use him. Thankfully he takes up far less air than he once did.

Why do the native rain dances work? Because they didn’t stop dancing until it started raining.

It was really a microcosm for the downfall of trust in media to come.

The team is run on merit. But that merit is predicated on toughness and working hard. Those are important traits in a physical sport like hockey - no doubt. But so is skill, which is seemingly ignored by mgmt.

There is literal tangible, demonstrative evidence to support this fact. The other franchise plays in the same god damn building. But the flyers are too smart to take hints from anyone else, which is bad when you’re the dumbest in the room.
