Antony and Garnacho were absolutely appalling yesterday. Brighton have four or five better wide midfield players than them.

Why does it seem the MLS is kinda skewed...like I could never see a big name playing for the Union

Miami's payroll is roughly $80M.

Second place is Toronto just over $20M.

Union are 21st at just under $15M and we probably have a bottom 3rd owner in terms of total net worth.

Allowing Miami to do what they're doing completely kills league parity and everything that makes MLS enjoyable.

Billy Sharp joining LA Galaxy. That was unexpected. I don't think he has much left in the tank, but we'll see.

Is it better to kick for power in close proximity to the net, or to force the goalie to make a save with an accurate touch? Skying the ball within the goal area seems like a sin.

The MLS will literally change their rules to accommodate a star player. What they did to get Clint Dempsey on Shittle was a f***ing joke. Honestly, the entire league is. I was a longtime season ticket holder of the Timbers....the quality of play isn’t great but was fun to support a local team. They lost me when the covered up a domestic abuse incident and the coach of the Thorns being a little too touchy feeling with the players. The MLS just wants $$

It is a deft touch. Pure power gets it done when you nut it pure. Beckham is an example of touch. He could spin a ball unlike most. A striker has an instinct to do both. Van Baston is a good example . Honestly, there is no answer the best are the best for a reason.

Neymar going to Saudi.
Walcott retiring.
Barkley signing for Luton.

All in the space of a few days. Shows how talent is really only half the equation.

Neymar ofc has had an excellent career. But had the talent to be the true heir to Messi and Ronaldo... and his greed and to some degree selfishness seemingly got in the way. His peak was at age 22-23 in 2014-2016 and he has never really reached those heights again.

2x 3rd place in Ballon d'Or is a joke for someone of his talent. And quite frankly since ~2020 he has not really been a top ~20 player in the world and living sliiightly off reputation.

Walcott tbf I think the ACL rupture was the start of his, well, not really downfall, but stagnation. At age 21-24 in 2010-2013 he looked on the way to being truly world class. Never quiiiite the same after. But at same time always got the vibe that he was the kind of guy who football was not really his "life" and just something he was very good at.

Barkley is tbf just one of a long line of very talented English CMs who have not reached close to potential. Alli, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Wilshere... all peaked young and never reached level again. And like Wilshere (albeit not to same extent) from what I understand his love of partying and not really being a total professional is a big part of why he really has not been at the level he was in ~2013-16. Being involved in drunken antics ~5x in last 6 years and also apparently moving in same circles as Liverpool gang members is not smart.

Seeing Kane in a Bayern shirt is weird, man. Good start for him though.
That assist was nice and obviously scoring a goal helps the cause. Seemed like he was already in a leadership role too. As you said, good start.

Weird to feel excited about the first game of a sports season for the first time in many many years.
Did you paint your house yellow yet? All true fans of the yellow wall do.
