So when are people gonna start talking about Zach Hyman?

Drai only on pace for 100+ points without McDavid, what a bust. Send him down.

No he's not. You're looking at his stats with McDavid. They routinely put them back together (like last game) where his points shoot up.

Then, when they're separated people pretend like he's never played with McDavid all season.

With McDavid out of the lineup, Draisaitl has 51 points in 50 games.

This includes 19yo Draisaitls numbers from 2014 when he had 9 points in 37 games on the 4th line. Not reflective of the player Drai is over the last 5 years.

No one says they never play together, but they play more apart than together. They just happen to have the best natural chemistry in the league over the last decade.

In 564 min away from McDavid this year, Drai is outscoring opposition 29-22 (3.1 - 2.3 per 60). Playing with a combination of Kane, McLeod, and Foegele as wingers. When they play together (355 min) they outscore 27-16, (4.6 - 2.7 per 60).

Nothing but good options for the Oilers top 6 combinations.

Drai and McDavid centre very effective outscoring top 6 lines, but can also play together as the most dominant offensive force in the league.

I knew from the get go that Hyman would benefit on McDavids wing with how much he goes to the net. I did not think it was an overpayment at all and expected big things out of him. Not to this extent though.

helps playing with McDavid

So would Connor Brown ;)
Not just anyone can score with McDavid. Skill/speed based guys seem to struggle with him actually. They don't know what to do it seems like.

McDavid makes guys with a quick shot around the net that can win a board battle look like gods though. Just in close and keep your stick on the ice.

Draisaitl's ES/5v5 numbers (and rates) without McDavid are very similar to Matthew's numbers without Marner. Good players play well with good players.

Naturalstattrick. Go to line tool and you can find WAW stats.

Is there any way to see total points here?

What I see is all strengths: Zach Hyman without McDavid is better than Leon Draisaitl without McDavid.

Really big disparity between Matthews without Marner and Draisaitl without McDavid too.

Matthews without Marner, 57.14 GF%
Hyman without Mcdavid, 53.13 GF%
Draisaitl without McDavid, 52.38 GF%

I haven't found a way, but that's not to say that there isn't. You can see total GF and GA though.

And your second point checks out, Hyman has been the Oilers best player this year in the eyes of many Oiler fans.

Solid pickup. He was already a solid winger in Toronto, but now he plays with more talented players and is arguably a better fit on McDavid's line. He also plays the PP in Edmonton vs PK in Toronto.

You cant deny his effectiveness - other players have been tried there and it didnt work.

You can do it on natural stat trick using the teammate option on the player page to find his minutes and production with a player then subtracting that from his totals.

Here’s Draisaitl with and without McDavid at ES the past 6 years

And here’s Matthews

We've all been more than aware of him since he started producing for the Leafs, trust me.

There’s not a more favourable offensive situation in the league than being the 3rd guy on a line with Mcdavid & Draisaitl. Just go to the net.

The relationship is symbiotic. McDavid puts up more points because of Drai.

You would think watching any two of Matthews/Marner/Nylander/Tavares (to a much lesser extent) for the last half decade would help you understand this.

Yes and Draisaitl benefits more than McDavid.

Both players without McDavid, Hyman is outplaying Draisaitl.

Most of the year it’s been McDavid and RNH. But you ain’t lying, when he is playing with two players both substantially better than anyone else he’s ever played with in his career does definitely help his production.
