Plenty of guys haven't scored 40 with McDavid... aka everyone except Draisaitl and Hyman.

Definitely not benefiting from playing with McDavid but he's a phenomenal player, might be the hardest working playing in the league, great leader, plays in all situations and plays the right way. You can put him on any team in the league and with his work ethic and dedication to the game, he will find a way to be successful.

His ES points didn’t get a huge bump in Edmonton, he just started getting PP1 time on one of the best PPs in the modern era. He didn’t get any in Toronto.

I'm not sure that's quite true... take out (or slightly discount) his shortened final season in Toronto, since he's always been a bit streaky, even here in Edmonton... and the numbers say his EV production is way above his historical rate. Certainly an argument can be made for quality of line mates the last two seasons where he's been with McD or Drai rather than with Nuge in year one.... but nonetheless there has been a big step forward in EVP.
