So what happens if this team is actually bad?

It's looking more and more like we may follow the path of the Avs from 2009-2011. Get in the playoffs, make some noise, fall back to earth, draft high. Hopefully we don't repeat the process like they seem to be doing too.

The more we lose, the more I find myself watching and pulling for other bad teams. I will say I'm getting to watch a lot of bad hockey for this early in the year. My only fear is how long can we hang with the truly awful teams in the league before the talent we thought we had starts to prevail? Scary thought but let's face it, not many bottom feeders have Tyler Seguin's on the team.
Also, with the exception of the Hawks game, most of the losses this year you can look back and point to a handful of dumb plays or soft goals that led to a close defeat or ot loss. My fear is they get that corrected but to late into the season.

And that sucks...big time.

Bingo, bango, bongo, man. I fear the same. I don't think we're good enough...I don't think we're bad enough either. I see that ever so nice #11 pick in our near future. Haven't we already seen this movie? I can't wait for Sean Avery's sloppy 11ths on draft day ;)

That's why people like me and Satan are really hoping management uses this season wisely. Even if you can win doesn't mean you should. We can squeeze our way into a wildcard spot and get knocked out first round and tell everyone "see we're kinda getting better". Or we can draft a generational talent and scare the **** out of everyone in the league.

McDavid is really good. Hell, Jack Eichel is really good. Put one of them with Benn/Seguin/Spezza/Nichushkin and you have NHL teams collectively sh*tting themselves. Defense or no defense.

100% agreed... It's just simply the right year to be in that "bad" position... That's probably the Stars problem... They never fell that deep recently... I really think they need to pick at least top 5 and get rid of all the people that take up cap space... I pray atm that Nill caves in and just let it happen... Try to get some decent picks for some of the veterans, maybe even the 2nd rounder back and sign Spezza and I will be happy...

I am already at the point where I hope every night that the Stars just keep losing and Buffalo starts winning... The only thing I care about at the moment is... Seguin, Benn, Spezza (as long as he resigns :sarcasm:), Nicha ( :( ), Klingberg and Oleksiak/Joki... Also I hope for Hemsky to simply do better, I like him but it has been pretty underwhelming... (Also, of course following our prospects that could make it in the next two years... I hope Ully gets back into the game :D)

Everyone agrees Benn and Dillon have been very bad. Daley has been a mess in his own zone. But what do you do about Goligoski going forward? He's got one more year on his contract and he's a FA. Do we want to re-sign him? Do we want to trade him this summer? Would he have more value at the TDL? What's going to happen with him if this team really is bad?

The dollars he will command will be way more than Dallas should be paying for his services.

Therefore he should be traded at the soonest convenience or let walk as a free agent.

We can keep him this year to ensure a top 5 draft pick.

Goligoski can kick rocks. Team went to **** as soon as he got here.
The correct answer is the team went to **** when Zubov retired. The Goose was brought in here as an attempt to fill (some of) that void. I don't blame Nieuwy for trying.

This.

I've said it time and time again that this team still hasn't replaced Sergei Zubov, and it's been far too long now.
