Yes and yes...

Personally IMO we will over pay if we do something to get D' going into the trade deadline...

Odds of a first round exit high...

2nd round exit absolutely...

Better to hoard our chips and go for the draft and July 1 to improve the team considerably...

At this point I would hope that the team only make a move for a dmen if it is a long term solution. None of this giving up assets for a band aid like Martinez.

These types of losses sting more than getting blown out, it also shows that the Jets have a long way to becoming a contender again, retool no, rebuild in all probability in the off season

Boys seem checked out. Oh well. Regroup. Get some defenseman in the offseason. I like to watch YouTube of 2018 playoffs to get me in a better mood. Lol

Well what can you say.

The organization spends half the week hyping up the Maurice extension and the players elect to show their appreciation of the contract extension by pulling one of there best disappearing acts of the season.

I really have to wonder just how in touch with the players this ownership and management group is. This certainly didn't look like a bunch of guys who were willing to battle for their coach tonight. I don't really know where exactly we go from here since its clear management/ownership has hitched their wagon to the Moe train. Really the other big option is major roster surgery in a league and industry where making trades and upgrading the roster isn't easy.

Now onto the game:

I really hope that Niku was actually nicked up enough that he couldn't go tonight and it wasn't just an excuse by Maurice to get all his big PK dmen who can't move the puck worth a **** in the line up tonight. Exhibit A of what having maybe one dmen in the bottom 4 who can move the puck looks like. Kulikov and Poolman were Putrid in large part because they constantly failed to move the puck effectively out of their end. It also shows the importance of what Niku brings to a team.

Maybe a few players had decent nights but otherwise nothing really positive to say about the players.

As for matchups I really don't know why Maurice moved away from the Scheifele vs Kane matchup. They seemed to be playing well and winning it early. Moe elected to move Copp up to the second line and then hard match that line while moving Scheifele to play infront of the Kulikov pairing. Both lines struggled mightily after that switch. I like Copp but he gets a bit exposed every time he moves to the second line. He is perfect in that 3 hole against other teams depth but has a hard time when moved up. The switch also hurt the other forward lines imo.
Copp can't keep up playing higher in the lineup. He's bad with the puck and he panics once he leaves his own zone. If he any puck skills damn would he be good.

I would be making a play for Sam Bennett. Good speed, physicality and he historically produces as a solid third liner. I would have no issue with him on our third.

I also wouldn't be opposed to going for a big physical second line C. We may have to step up to the plate with a 2020 2nd, 2021 1st, Roslovic, Vesalinen package to get it done but it is needed.

I agree with this post --if we don't get some big strong capable hockey players, we're going to get beaten up, along the boards, and in the standings. You can already see teams taking pot shots at guys like Ehlers and Pionk --and nothing happens. There's nobody that can defend them.

With the loss of Trouba, Buff, Chiarot, and now with Lowry being out, we have a very very soft team, and the other teams know it, and will exploit this. Tonight's game was a good example.

If we do somehow make the playoffs, we won't go past the first round. Chevy is going to have to make some player changes IMO.

EK9 elbow will be reviewed by player safety.

KC goal was so sweet.

Jets need more toughest, can't allow guys like EK run around taking shots at guys all night. Lowry can't be the only guy who can fight. Not advocating a goon.

I have my doubts, they ignored Toews' hit on Wheeler a few games ago.

If a multi millionaire needs constant motivation to bust his ass every game then i dont think coaching is the problem. Scheifs issues aren't on Maurice, they are on Scheif... Could Maurice maybe call his lack of d effort out? Sure but i don't know if that accomplishes anything good.

It might not be motivation.

Might be different vision by players vs coach on how to go about on the system.

The players been trying for awhile now.
Maybe they know it doesnt suit them.

Just like the guys know they can create more with different system but something else is being instilled into them.

Something is not aligning.

Most teammanagement do,Listen to players , fire the coach.
TNS listen to coach.

Or maybe its just easier to lwt go of the coach for other teams.

Anyways by reading all these Winnipeg Press media hype, the signing was great :)

It's worrisome how much other teams go after Pionk and Scheifele, they've been smoked quite a few times lately, questionable hits too.
Can't afford to have those guys hurt. Imagine guys running McDavid like that, or another teams top D.

Here's a wild idea that just occurred to me - what if they brought in a new voice behind the bench to kind of hit the reset button? Help these guys get over their psychological block or whatever it is. Has any team ever tried something like that? I think it's worth a shot. Maybe not today - let's give Maurice a bit more time. If things aren't way better by...February 2023, maybe it'll be time to start exploring this kind of radical move...
I hear Budreau is available. He doesn't win Cups but he is a shoe in for 100+ points with less talent than the Jets have......

The Jets need to stop trying to make the perfect pass or score the perfect goal. They need to fire the puck at the net more. Look what happened when they shot the puck in the last few minutes.
The Sharks scored two goals by just firing it at the net and putting in the rebound.
Who cares about zone time. Goals are more important.

Friendly sharks fan here - I came here to ask what happened at the end - my feed (and the sj announcers) seemed to indicate that Goodrow tapped Jets #4 on the helmet at the blueline, just as the horn sounded. Ive rewatched the last seconds a few times, and Kane does nothing, and goodrow does something and #4 appears to be somewhat shaken by it - but its hard to see what happened to #4 (its right at the edge of the feed when it happens) - anyone else have more details?

Also, what was the jets coaching staff upset about with 6.5 seconds left? They were screaming at the officials... any idea?
Was at the game. About one second left Pionk 4 gets puck and fires shot. Horn hadn’t gone. Goodrow takes umbrage, two hander to back of Pionk’s legs. No helmet involved. Jets players get upset.
IMO douche move by Goodrow given horn hadn’t gone off. YMMV.

They overpassed and overthought this game all night and refused to shoot when they had the chance.

Awful game to watch in person let alone on tv.

Well, that sounds like an improvement. To be fair, Maurice doesn't win Cups either. Boudreau, however, has the 3rd best win% of any coach with more than 500 games. His playoff win% is better than Maurice's too. The Wild are 2 points behind the Jets with 2 games in hand, despite being an average of 800 years old and with the worst goaltending in the league...I mean, what's not to like here?

Jets played like the game started at 7pm. This year it seems we have so many bad first periods and have to play from behind instead of going out and taking it to the other team.. Getting 3 shots is pretty sad and it took until a pp almost halfway thru the second to finally get some more shots and get going.

Honestly, a goon would be good compared to some of the junk on our fourth line.

Shore and Bourque are alright defensively but bring nothing to the team. Peluso brought nothing to the team but at least he would’ve whopped Kane’s ass.
