Smart teams will contain Drai and McD and shut the Oilers down with ease in the playoffs.

Not impressed with the Oilers at all and they are not contenders.

Okay yeah I don't think any Oiler fan has argued we are going to the SCF. Any talking about what is going to happen in the playoffs is pretty premature. Likely our opponent will end up being VAN a team who has many big weakness like us. Though again people need to stop saying that we only have two forwards Nuge was huge when McD was out and has been playing hot. Yam was a point per game winger before he got hurt. Of course you guys are probably going to pull well he plays on Drai's line ignoring what he was contributing fact is we aren't a 2 player offense we don't have a lot of depth but that isn't the same. You guys had a better argument at the beginning of the season.

The thread is literally titled "Edmonton has to be the favorites of the West, right?"

To put Edmonton above St. Louis, Colorado, and Vegas is downright ridiculous.

It's amazing how stupid fans and analysts still drool over top end talent like it's the NBA. Depth is the way to go. McDavid and Draisaitl won't contain all 4 lines of the opposing team by themselves.
They almost fluked into the conference finals a few years ago. It's not likely but anything is possible and you know the refs will be trying to get McDavid deep into the playoffs.

Yeah again this thread was literally a Leafs fan trying to troll us. Outside of pure homers none of our fanbase thinks this. We are very well aware of our team's flaws and it's become more evident over the last few games. That said that isn't the same as people inferring literally all this team is McD and Drai like you said star power clouds judgement and kinda ignores our other contributions. No team can ride off two hot forwards not even these guys. That said yeah we are incredibly weak at forward depth which is major concern.

Though this season definitely has raised my spirits from despair to hope. If we can make and do something in the playoffs and Holland makes some moves we can shape this team into a contender.

I will say though acting like there is favourite in the West at all is kinda ridiculous. The Blues haven't really solidified themselves that much and the rest of the Conference will be entirely up in the air.

Why is that funny? We just won the cup and would steam roll the Oilers in a 7 game series...
last year at this time, mentioning the Blues to do anything in the West against any top 8 west team at the time would be considered a joke, but here you are with the tables turned, forgetting where you came from?
come playoff time nothing is a guarantee, so don't think you'll steam roll anybody

Horrible, we are a bad hockey team. But Flames fans for the most part will admit that. No delusion of being favorites in the west.

Oilers fans don't think they are favorites either.

This thread was started by a Leafs fan so people like you and everyone else frustrated by their own team could come in here and blast the Oilers and their fans to make themselves feel better.

Actually, I predicted that the Blues would be contenders last year. And in case you forgot, by this time last year, the Blues were already surging up the standings after their 11 game winning streak. If you look at the Blues, even on paper, they are the best team in the league. The problem is, people nowadays only look at the top line and judge a team based on elite talent. And yeah, anything can happen in the playoffs, but I sure hope the Blues play the Oilers at some point in the playoffs.

I am going to be honest I think that if Rantanen is healthy I am going to be the Avs for the WCF and probably BOS or WSH to win the cup (they will turn it around). I don't think anyone out West will win this year. If we can get into the playoffs and win one round I would be ecstatic.

Still hey I mean I wouldn't mind losing to you in a WCF either. I literally had no hope at the start of this season. That would put in me in an insanely good mood. I just want the team to get as much experience as they can and hopefully Holland makes some good decisions in the Offseason.

Its cute how easy you probably think its easy to win a title back to back that you assume St. Louis is this unstoppable force. Enjoy getting curb stomped by Dallas and Colorado who are way better.

Again your selective amnesia is cute. The blues dont have Tarasenko and Bouwmeester is gone. The Avs won 6 in a row without Rantanen. Enjoy the sweep.

Uh...the Avs are most definitely not way better than the Blues. The Blues scare the **** out of me as an Avs fan. The Blues are the comfortable favourites to come out of the West until proven otherwise come playoffs.

No I probably agree but it's very hard to make repeat cup appearances forget winning. It's not backed up by anything but I still think you guys will win the WCF.

2 superstars on a team with depth are more scary than a team with just good players. The blues have great goaltending and defense but they dont have players that can break a game open. You need the big boys when the playoffs come and the Avs young players are grown up and ready to take over as the next powerhouses of the west. David Perron on a hot streak doesint scare me.

Yeah the Blues would never win with that lineup...
