Demidov is a HAB
Max Jones on waivers, wouldn't be surprised if they claimed him. Could be worth a swing at providing speed and physicality to the bottom 6.
Fair question and I don't know. It's been an unsettling start to the year as Dach, Newhook have started slowly and Laine was injured. Dach has lots of rust so maybe he just needs time, Newhook thought would be better. How do you see Zegras I'm the future here? Centering Caufield and Dach? Suzuki with Slaf and Demidov.
Meh, not at all.If a hit to the head is always a game, then you might as well take hitting out.
No, you can't assure it... You just have to exercise caution and when you cross the line, deal with the repercussions.Game is fast and you can't always ensure you're not going to make head contact.
And before someone goes "WeLl DoNt TaRgEt ThE hEaD oR dOnT hIt"
As you're going in for a hit the other player is still in motion and could result in that split second continuation of a clean hit tot a hit to the head.
I think they'll just call the hit to the head more often, which is fair and needed.
It is, but its a necessary distinction. The bolded is exactly my point. Call it whatever you want, refuse to call it a "rebuild" but the point is that acting like it was a scorched earth rebuild is just wrong, it wasn't. We had the core in place when they came in. With that in sense, you cannot accept 5+ years of losing while excusing them because they've only been here for X years. I raised the example of Shero. Of course, he turned it around really quick because of Sid and Malkin, but what if it failed for 5+ years ? Do you say "Oh the rebuild started when Shero came in in 2006" ? It makes no sense. That's kind of vague tho, because you are always "accumulating" whether you are competing or not. It's how you manage your assets that change when you're rebuilding versus competing. And it's even more murkier when dealing with Bergevin tenure, the man who spent a freaking decade riding the fence without picking a lane and ironically traded away his first 1st round pick (for Dvo of all people) in a year his team was fated to finish dead last in the league.
All the yield from the 2017 and 2018 drafts are gone now, and the only roster player we still carry from the 2018 roster is Gally (and that ain't a good thing)

Thats fine, I don't disagree. I'm talking about fan/Owner patience. A lot of times this year I've been told "It's only been two/three years", thats the point. Sure, theyve been here two, three years, but they came in to something in place, that doesn't give them free reign. It's pretty simple.
Rebuilding is a conscious decision.
Free falling in the standing because Price is injured isn't.

If they wanted free reign, they needed to start from scratch, IE, trade CC, NS, etc.

People feeling aside, for how long previous managements sucked isn't the problem of current management. They got mandated to do a rebuild and that's what they are doing. IT IS unfortunate that the village idiot came before them, but that's not on them.
Please. There was very little in place when HuGo arrived. Caufield and Suzuki.Thats fine, I don't disagree. I'm talking about fan/Owner patience. Zegras and Caufield were great for USA development team a few years back. They also best friends why I think Hughes had hard-on for Zegras. But you rarely can go back in time. I think it will be a mistake. What once was isn't the same when you go back. Zegras is a good playmaker and Caufield a great sniper. But I see Zegras similar to Dach. Weak on faceoffs and not good defensive. In NHL you have to play in all three zones. It's different than junior.Fair question and I don't know. I'm just thinking if for example Verbeek was interested in a big meat and potatoes type player, could Anderson be somebody of interest ( since he doesn't look to be in our long term plans ). Package him plus for a discounted Zegras.
If Zegras is cheap we just let him fight it out for a spot in the top 6. At this point all I think we can count on is Suzuki, Slaf , Caufield and Demidov for the top 6. Hopefully Dach. Maybe Laine. Ideally it would be a skilled physical 2 way guy with some scoring to round it out.
I guess if Hughes thinks Zegras is a good player, and you can get him at a bargain, why don't you get him ? Worst case you Monahan him and get a better asset than the price paid. Now if Hughes thinks he is just a weak player with a couple tricks then it's a no.
I remember when Devon Toews could have been had and the Avs picked him up. I thought damn we needed a PMD and this guy was gotten for 2 2nds and we had 2 better 2nds. He could have been ours and would have complimented that giant redwood D we had. I mean we had a full D, but I thought we could have grabbed a good player cheap, and we didn't. So that's how I wonder about Zegras
at this point I think we should let the kids in Laval , adding more kids into the lineup seems like a bad idea for now. Laval is doing great no need to call upWhy claim Max Jones when you could just call up Davidson or Tuch if you’re looking for physicality?
Max Jones is about as intellectually challenged of a hockey player as I’ve ever seen play, and that in itself is impressive, in a non positive way.
Free reign? What?Thats fine, I don't disagree. I'm talking about fan/Owner patience. A lot of times this year I've been told "It's only been two/three years", thats the point. Sure, theyve been here two, three years, but they came in to something in place, that doesn't give them free reign.
If they wanted free rein, they needed to start from scratch, IE, trade CC, NS, etc.
