Good period by the Slovaks. Cozens and Newhook best forwards for Canada. Drysdale-Byram pairing had a pretty much perfect period.

Agree. Newhook has been creating chances every shift. I liked Harley's period too, he's looking smooth on the puck even though he doesn't create as much as Byram/Drysdale.

I agree that Ferraro was meandering a bit too much, but you kind of have to when folks at home aren't so familiar with the players and you have a handful of games to build a narrative. When he does NHL colour his commentary is more pertinent to the on-ice play as he only has to worry about being relevant to that individual game.

He was actually good in the massacre against Germany which is hard to do when the game was done so early.

I like chicken parm, comparisons to someone like McGuire grind my gears.

The game is televised in Slovakia tonight. When the tournament was in neighbouring Czech Republic last year, I was at two games.

So far not a bad hockey at all. Slovakia's playing with a well organized defensive system, they have been physical, communication between players works. It's going to be a lot about how long they can keep this system and whether they can skate at this level for 60 mins. If they manage to play the entire game like this, it may be not easy for Canada. Some breakaways opportunities always occur, and as long as the margin in score remains close (1 or 2 goals), anything can happen.

Canada has been as strong as expected and has created many 5v5 controlled attacks. The amount of controlled entries from SVK is next to none. SVK, being exhausted of defending on their own zone, just tends to dump the puck up the rink and skate to their bench to get new fresh legs. Hard to see them scoring in this match except on the PP. Wouldn't be surprised if Canada wins by 7-8 goals.

Slovakia have a couple of 16 years not eligble for entry draft yet. How many in their team is drafted? Checked up the C and the Rw in the 1st line, both not picked,same with their goalie,but heard that he probably will be picked in a redraft. Amazing that slovakia can hold on to Canada so far with so little top talent.

Lives in Sweden and there are some slovakia youngsters developing in U16- u20 teams there.

Not a bad idea to take part of a great development program, if their own isnt good enough yet!

Thought Byram-Drysdale looked good.

Guhle was excellent that period again.

Perfetti looked more engaged and was generating chances.

Still no Byfield sightings, completely invisible out there. He really needs to step up and do something or the criticisms will get louder.

Drysdale is special.

I guess there is a chance Byfield duped the scouts by using his size to dominate in junior. Logan Brown and Nick Ritchie are two other recent names who dominated because of their size in the O and went in the 1st round.
