If Slaf is only there for nine games or less I am okay with it. After that I would be concerned. I would rather him be taught and learn how to swim instead of being thrown in the deep end and hope he figures it out on his own.

Exposing him to the intensity of NHL games that matter is another learning phase for him.
If after 9 games it is deemed that he needs AHL seasoning, by all means make it happen!

Was working at Costco last year...........................what a great story.
There were several posters here who pencilled Xhekaj in the ECHL before camp.

I guess that's still some folks' preferred development idea in that he will get tons of minutes, "dominate" and probably win a championship with Trois-Rivieres, especially if Mesar is sent there too.

Winning, dominating, and especially confidating - what's not to love?

Seriously, when we think of all the thousands of prospects who never made it to the NHL, this kind of proves that they should have started in the ECHL first, before the AHL, to gain confidence. It worked for Michael Ryder!

Harris is better than Xhekaj, Wideman and Kovacevic and, for now, just as impactful as Guhle.

I would’ve given the 7th spot to someone like bowey or shueneman to let the young ones develop in Laval.

But I will trust the FO on this one, something I haven’t said in about 10 years
Xhekaj can protect the small ones. This lineup is made up of p***yes. We saw that last season with the Montembeault incident. You need a Xhekaj. You might not like it, but h’s got something the others don’t.

Figuring it out is how potential stars become actual stars.

But he won't be on his own, and he won't be playing with pressure to never make a mistake.

Slaf is not a snowflake, let him go through the normal process of learning to beat NHLers.

Lots of rookies. They will surely waive a bunch of vets and send them down, as they will go unclaimed. Slaf should have started in the AHL, he didn't show much until now and I hope they don't burn yet another first rounder, this one though is first overall.

I would love it if Xhekaj sticks permanently and never gets sent down, I don't really want him fighting AHL guys every game. That league still has goons, I don't want to see him take on Imama or Gabriel.

Depends on how that pickup from Winnipeg does.

Harris and Xhekaj pretty much made it because we don't have anything else. Same with the Jets pick up.

Team is going to give up a llllllllot of goals.
Jackeye made it because he’s a promising super middleweight with some skills. We have no one like him.

Don't think that's a good reason to keep him up. Needing size/physicality reminds me of why Tinordi was rushed.
Tinordi couldn’t fight. This kid can.

You don't put people who are day-to-day on IR unless you know for sure it's at least 7 days.

He could be ready Wednesday, or not.
I think I read that the 7 days can be partially retroactive to when the injury occured.

Edmundson, Anderson, Ghule, Pezzetta, and Matheson are not wallflowers. New guy Kovacevik can also bring it. It’s better than it used to be.

Petry was the biggest coward on the team and he’s thankfully gone.

Slaf will get an extended look against NHL players and if he doesn’t look the part, they’ll send him to Laval. This is a new front office, stop associating them with Bergevin’s mistakes and inability to develop players. Saying they’ll ruin him because he starts the year in Montreal is a horrible take.
Yeah, it did ruin Stutzle in Ottawa. He’s been falling ever since.

God-awful mistakes as we smash our faces against a wall over and over again, repeating the errors of the past. Slafkovsky is already well on his way down the path of Kotkaniemi and Galchenyuk, as I stated; in five years, he'll be despised and reframed as a talentless bust with a terrible work-ethic or other character issues by this fanbase.
Just No. There are no dinosaurs directing traffic anymore.
