So you expect MTL to carry only 6 defenceman? Because if the are sending Xhekaj or Harris once Matheson come back, it will make the squad at 6 players only, right?
Matheson takes the count to 7 and Edmundson as 8. When eddy returns someone has to go given the forward situation as per cap friendly stat’sSo you expect MTL to carry only 6 defenceman? I know about Kovacevic, Edmundston tho is not healthy and not even close to return. No we claimed kovacevic,
With Matheson healthy I'd send Harris down and we'd have the following 7
Matheson - Eddy
Guhle - Savard
AX - Kovacevic
Wideman
I don’t think it will be HarrisNo we claimed kovacevic,

Do we have Edmunston’s ETA?I know about Kovacevic, Edmundston tho is not healthy and not even close to return.

So Matheson will start on Wednesday. Cap friendly has him as a scratch not injured reserve.
Do you realize your math has 6 defensemen? i believe the team will have 7 D. Someone will go down when Eddy returnsMatheson is listed day-to-day, so that could mean he gets cleared for Wednesday or he won't and could be cleared for the next game.
Right now, because he's injured, a spot opens up for one of the young guys. Once he's back, expect one of the young guys to be sent to Laval.
Hopefully he gets good linemates and decent TOI with PP time, if not he’s better suited in AHL.Let's get real, Slaf is a 1st overall pick and was going to start in Montreal even if had a shit camp.
It would be interesting how he does. Hopefully MSL puts him in a great position.
He was solid not flashy. Kid will have a long career in the NHL.Kind of surprised about Harris making the team, he wasn’t good enough. I’m hoping he’s just a placeholder.
He might has earn a spot especially with the injuries but it isn't just about keeping the best player because regarless who we keep as #6 it shouldn't really have any impact, it should be about doing what is best for Xhekaj and his long term futur... I don't think playing 3rd pairing on a tire fire Defense where every mistake will result in a goal and replayed on loop everywhere is good and worst he will also be expected and relied upon to drop the glove because we don't realy has anyone else...No doubt this D will suck. But I find it hard to say that Xhekaj didn't earn a roster spot with his play. Who would you have rather kept?

I think Hieneman will go first, likely to swedenArmia is out 1-2 weeks, so Slaf is probably staying on the roster till then
I disagree about him being solid. Hopefully he heads to Laval when we are healthy. He was solid not flashy. Kid will have a long career in the NHL.
The forwards have to help more than they have been.He was decent - ok. Those other players just suck.
There were a few occasions where you could see Xhekaj had no idea what to do, went out of position and made a sequence of terrible passes.
A shit team like this with no depth you'll see him and the whole d squad exposed numerous times per night unless they can magically get it together, play a defensive 1st, 2nd and 3rd system and play it to a T
If they go with 7 D? What team in the 32 team league does not carry 7d? When you are in a hole, as the saying goes, is to stop diggingWithout Matheson, the young guys will play more minutes and bigger roles. Once Matheson returns, their ice time and roles will change. So Habs will prefer having at least one of them in Laval to play the minutes and bigger role.
If they go for 7D, they could call up Schueneman to play that smaller role.
