No Hockey iq.
No puck skills.
No vision.
No anticipation.
No speed.
Doesn't use his size.

Wow his agent fleeced Kent Hughes with a career year as a 19 year old.

He's like Nichuskin but Nichuskin was able to find a gear after turning 25. But Nichuskin had a mind for the game evident even early.

This player is the most lost 3rd year, 20 year old player ever.

This won't age well.

No Hockey iq = He never got the memo about shooting on net which makes him looks like he has zero hockey iq
No puck skills.= Disagree
No vision.=Disagree
No anticipation.= He doesn’t factor in the part of shooting on net which deprives him of some anticipation
No speed.= Disagree, he can be fast, he’s just not hustling lately.
Doesn't use his size.= Mostly agree. Does it a bit to win pucks or along the boards. Never learned to use it to create opportunities for himself

The no shooting part is laziness by management for not even giving him the most minimal shooting quotas.

10 points in 14 games without Dach, 4 points in 10 with him. Just wait until Marty stops prioritizing Dach and let's Slaf get away from him.
Slaf was slow today, not using his partners as much as he could have. Or that Juraj did not score in last game although he had great chances. But maybe I'm being too harsh.

The Talk clearly didn’t work. Not surprised either from what I heard, according to my sources this is how the talk went :

Hughes : Hey Slaf how about you start playing like an 8 Millions dollars player buddy.

Slaf : Why? That’s next year, I’m only getting 950,000$ this year.

Hughes : ....listen here you little shit....

Hockey historians will write that he earned the biggest amount of money with the least effort.
It's not easy to watch a 20 yrs old kid not giving a f*** on the ice. 90% of shifts he isn't even trying.

The contract is the least of our concern, under 26, a major mistake can be fix with a 1/3 buyout. And it won’t come to that, Slaf will either find his game in the coming years or be traded. Someone somewhere will think they can fix him if we can’t.

He probably won’t be a superstar but he will figure it out, I’m sure of it. He could end up being 1.5 millions or 2 overpaid.

I have a radical proposal. Call up one of Tuch/Xhekaj (it depends if you try Patrik at center or not) and put him to Slafkovsky and Laine. I guarantee you it would be a very good line. Funny, at least... :D
Otherwise, Slafkovsky played very well with Regenda, who is a classic power forward.

Putting two major problems on one line isn't helping either of them. Laine must be wondering what he did to deserve this torture being stuck with Slaf and Dach.

It's time to put Slaf with Suzuki and Caufield again, that's probably the only way he improves. Newhook despite his struggles will be better than Slaf on line 2.
The stakes are a bit higher this year.
Our Captain is making a serious effort to be a net positive player while facing the toughest match ups.
It's obvious the team has been concentrating on keeping the puck out of their own net.
Less thinking and more skating is the only thing that will get Slaf going again.
Easier said than done because I don't think Slaf completely trusts his instincts at this point.
He'll get there sooner or later.

Newhook has played well on line one. I can’t believe he doesn’t have more points. That pass to CC last night was terrific.

I think putting Slaf on the first probably makes sense. He’s too valuable a player to us and it would probably fire him up.

He is a big man that should be imposing his will on the opposition but he isn't doing so. If he is sulking because he got demoted, well, that's a red flag, especially considering the contract he signed.

Not just fire him up but he’ll get to play with better players and there’s more chance CC will put the puck in the net if Slaf makes him a great pass.

He played with Caufield, Suzuki, Newhook, Dach, Gallagher, Evans, Laine, Anderson this season. He’s a kid in development, he needs to be stable and develop some confidence back.

MSL has to ask himself.................who is more important to the team, Slaf or Newhook?
Newhook should be somewhere around the 2nd and 3rd line...
