Personally I prefer pictures. Of pretty ladies. Now, that's substance.

Yup, I just brought it up to complete an argument in here but not to suggest in any manner that the org isn’t equipped or that it isn’t already aware of anything we throw out on the forum, on a daily basis. 💀
I disagree. By their actions, this organization has shown for years that they have no idea what is being written on this forum. If they truly meant business they'd be checking in daily to take direction and clues.

🤣 Close.

Slaf taking it like a man, in stride. He's facing it like a young man, with gentle affront. He's 100% himself and you gotta love that about him.

Turning the tables as far as pressure goes, he's being humble and enthusiastic about it.

Its impossible not to like this guy.

Lets go big20!

Maybe. Or maybe he's just a guy who skates fast and looks like hes doing something. Theres a real possibility that Hughes overestimated his ceiling and im fine with that. We have to assume that most of the players we draft or trade for wont hit that ceiling.
I think Slaf has a 75% chance, Dach 50%, and Newhook 25% to reach their potential as top 6 players. Newhook may be a 3rd or 4th line guy

I completely agree and by me saying that Newhook will eventually come around due to his hard work that was not to imply that he will definitely turn into a good top six forward but more to suggest that he might be a better version of what we saw last season if he can get his confidence back.

I am not so certain about the percentages that you listed at the end but I agree with the overall statement.

Only in Montreal would a team's boss talking to a young player about reaching his potential be news

That would absolutely happen in every Canadian city as well as a few American ones.

It's mostly just venting. It's okay. Habs fans are passionate and need somewhere to let go of some steam.

There's tons of well-thought, well-written comments and many knowledgeable posters. There's also a shitload of people reacting irrationally. I'm fine with it. You can easily identify which is which.
Of course , as I started with many are well thought and are good conversations.
But what drives me nuts is the poster coming on and saying oh newhook lazy again or Anderson no moving while if he had arched the game he would have noticed both are putting all the effort in

I wonder if the Montreal night life is affecting his play. PURE Speculation on my part. Just wondering.
He's not showing the fire that he played with in the second half of last season. If he was just a product of Suzuki then management made a grave error in signing him so quickly to a big contract.

My posting history will show (anyone that cares to look)that I am not in favor of long term deals for young players and my posts will also suggest the need for talent at center. Slaf may never drive a line and needs help from the middle of the ice, most wingers do.

It would be easy to fall into trouble in Montreal especially a good looking kid that is signed to 60 million dollars in guaranteed money. I don't know how they stay grounded because I know I couldn't pull that off. How do you wrap your head around the fame and the unlimited money?

Crazy, I don't really have a problem with his play. He works hard most of the time and he's been tossed around the lineup like a tossed salad. He was great last night again. He's still young.

I also think Newhook has been far better than most give him credit for here. Same with Dvorak.

I thought he looked good but I feel like he can play with more fire in his belly still.

I saw plenty of positives. Great back checking and forechecking. Battling along the boards. Clever passing. A couple good chances.

All this and I still don’t think he uses his size to it’s utmost advantage.

He can be better but to do all he did last night while not playing his best is a good sign. There’s still a certain amount of awkwardness too.

Not worried here

Slaf is mostly fine now, outside a few shifts here and there where it looks like he's wondering what to do. I feel like he plays with more instinct, at least offensively, with Laine. His line has big issues in the dzone thought. Hopefully, video reviews can fix that.

Newhook started to look better the last few games, but he's not in his chair on the 1st line.
Dvorak is well positioned most of the time, plays over 200 feets, but he's always a bit too late reacting. He's ok on the bottom 6, but replacable (once the team has more centers, ahahah).

It's not a slam dunk though, of course I understand the logic behind it

Wouldn't it be better to sign Slaf to 10Mx8 contract when he's 23-24 than a 8Mx8 year contract when he's 21? With the cap going up it's probably the same % of the cap and he's UFA at 31-32 instead of 28.
Not really, that 2m may seem small but it can be a big difference, not only does it add up so that alongside Suzuki, Caufield mean we are talking 6+ or in other words a decent top-6 forward/top-4 D. Even at just 2m, it allows you to overpay a UFA you really want by a large enough amount that they choose you over another team.

And as for UFA age, if he's 31-32 and still producing then he's young enough to want another long term deal but there's a big risk that he might slow down just a few years into it. At 28 and re-signing long term you can probably get through most of deal before really running the risk of falling off.
