Exactly, it's easy to say "it's just a 7th", and it is, but why? I haven't heard one good explanation of how Scott Hannan is a better option in any situation. We have other, better, options that don't cost us a thing to ice.

It's just a 6th (i'm betting he see's the ice in the playoffs) but it's a 6th for absolutely nothing.

It's because you don't want to listen to a positive explanation why trading for him was a good move. Your mind is made up that it was a bad move. So all the logic in the world wouldn't help you change your mind to see how it could be a positive move.

And if he sees the ice in the playoffs, the 6th won't be for nothing. It will be a 6th round pick for a player that played for us in the playoffs.

I agree that he will likely ice him over Demers, and thats dumb. I don't agree than he's better than Murray. You can't directly compare defensive stats from different teams, you have to compare that player against their own team, take the differential, and then compare the differentials. Even that is flawed.

They both suck, but at least Murray had his physical play.

This is how I feel. But would also rather have two 2nds rather than a 7th and still give up Murray.

It's called insurance. We don't know enough about Demers' injury and Hannan also has playoff experience that Braun, Irwin and Tennyson do not.

Insurance implies 'in an emergency situation you have this guy to fall back on'. Putting Hannan on the ice makes the team worse, he's a blackhole, he's going to make whoever he is paired with worse and cost the team goals. His stats assure that. Plus you are assuming he wont' be iced, and history says he will (Wallin, Semenov, Huskins, Colin White, Murray).

No one is posting any logical reasons though, just platitudes. I don't want him on the ice, ever, no matter what happens. I don't care if half the defense goes down, we are done at that point anyway, Hannan isn't going to help.

I don't really care about the pick, I just cannot fathom how anyone thinks this is good.

Pitt gets Jussi Jokinen. Just give them everybody.

Wonderful. I wouldn't mind the Hannan move as much if they went out and got Jokinen, but now we may not get any more forwards and now when Demers is healthy, TMac will bench Demers for Hannan. :shakehead

I'm confused. Shouldn't Milbury be a bad thing? Unless I misheard it, Puck Daddy said it deserves 2 Milbury's because they essentially traded a 6th for 2 2nds.

I thought it was a bad thing. It will probably go down to 2 Milburys when they get the terms right.

I'll try. If our D is getting handled in the PO's maybe Hannan as a 7th can clear the crease.

Thats all I've got.

I hope Larry Robinson just walked into DW's office, said "A depth defensman would be nice, but Hannan? WTF are you doing?" and slapped him.

#SJSharks lines same as they were vs. VAN and didn't expect otherwise. Bit of news: Jason Demers skating this a.m.

Heal Demers.
