Hannan has stunk for the past 4 seasons. He's worse than Murray and its not close.

Everything about Hannan, including all of his underlying stats, say he's better then Murray - and it's not close.

This is a good depth move.

at least we have depth so burns can remain a forward, and this is a message to the plyers that DW still wants them to shoot for the cup!

Okay, I'll agree that Hannan is better than Murray, but I'd rather forgo that sort of defenseman altogether. I'm not mad about giving up the pick, I'm mad that DW just gave TMac another defenseman to play over Demers.

Then why waste a pick? Thats what im getting at. Im stumped

Exactly, it's easy to say "it's just a 7th", and it is, but why? I haven't heard one good explanation of how Scott Hannan is a better option in any situation. We have other, better, options that don't cost us a thing to ice.

It's just a 6th (i'm betting he see's the ice in the playoffs) but it's a 6th for absolutely nothing.

Incase Demers is out longer and we have another injury on or two on the backend. Sounds like Burns is staying at forward for the foreseeable future. Also to show the guys in the locker room that dw believes in the players we have. But also to show them that he thinks they can make a run. And he adds a guy that is well liked and respected in the room as to not mess with the current chemistry. It's a very low risk move. Seeing as we already had 2 7ths.

It's a sixth for a negative asset, just like Murray. However, this move doesn't make me turn on DW, it just makes me extremely concerned about Demers.

DW should know better than to trade for an injured player. I'm willing to give Hannan time to heal before I give my final judgment on this, but this is a brutal trade if we give away a 7th for a pylon to play 2 or 3 games.

And I would argue that Hannan is insurance against injuries...the Sharks now have 8 d-men on the roster and one of them is currently hurt.

Awesome. That's what the plan is anyway.

Are you sure about that? Don't forget our coach is Todd "12 years can outcoach me on Xbox live" McLellan. He played Murray over Demers, he could very well play Hannan over Tennyson (or even over Demers if he's back).

I agree that he will likely ice him over Demers, and thats dumb. I don't agree than he's better than Murray. You can't directly compare defensive stats from different teams, you have to compare that player against their own team, take the differential, and then compare the differentials. Even that is flawed.

They both suck, but at least Murray had his physical play.

Hannan's usage chart looks awfully similar to Weber's. :P
