Gaborik was better when he was playing 14-15 mins a night

this guy can't handle the big minutes anymore

once King/Clifford come back

our lines will look like:

Pearson - Kopitar - Brown
Lucic - Carter - Toffoli
King - Lewis - Gaborik
Clifford - Shore - Nolan

which is fineeeee, especially with Brown on that top line :naughty:

Not a good last 4 games, that's for sure. 5 goals scored against them 3 times, and had 45 shots against in the other game. Then the Buffalo game, they didn't play all that great. The definition of a slump.

Chicken or egg situation. Do the Kings suck on the road against Atlantic teams, and at home against Pacific teams, or would they be in a slump regardless of who they played?

A combined 4-8-2 against the Pacific at home and Atlantic on the road. 16-3 against anyone else, anywhere else.

With the amount of minutes the Top forwards played on the road, some guys nursing injury, and some production slumps (Toffoli/Carter/Gabo).

It's going to = a few losses. The Break coming is probably a very good one.

Also McNabb...I love the guy, but he is just overwhelmed on the top pair with Doughty. The Kings can't afford to move Muzzin back up, A-Mart can't anchor is own pairing.

Well if Doughty is going to make a bad pass, what difference does it make ? The game wasn't won or lost in the last 3:00 minutes.

Yeah I know, it was lost in the final 6.
Still , why wait so long when you have total control, isn't that the idea? We've seen him do with 3 minute to go before.

The last 2 games 17-11-12 are a collective -16, sheesh.
15 GA in our last 3 losses.

And whats the deal with melting down the game before the holiday break? We pulled the same crap against the Flames last year, blowing a two goal lead as well.

Might I add that the Sharks have the leagues best road record, and the worst home record....

Whack season indeed.

This is the face of an unhappy coach.

The Kings can use this Christmas break to reset, spend Christmas with their families and not eat and breathe hockey for a few days. They probably need that. I do.

Speaking of which, I'd better get started with the Christmas shopping tomorrow. [/procrastination]

They have exactly three full days off and then get right back to it with 4 games in 6 days, all on the road.

That is not much of a break in my opinion. And this ****ing schedule is whack, completely whack, not just for the Kings but for all teams. **** the schedule maker and **** all the arenas around the country for making his/her job even harder.

Just to harp on it some more. In the 7 home games against Pacific teams:

Pearson - 7GP, 1G, 5A, 6Pts, +1
Toffoli - 7GP, 4G, 1A, 5Pts, -1
Carter - 7GP, 0G, 4A, 4Pts, 0
Shore - 7GP, 2G, 1A, 3Pts, -2
Doughty - 7GP, 1G, 2A, 3Pts, -5
Brown - 7GP, 1G, 2A, 3Pts, -3
Gaborik - 7P, 1G, 2A, 3Pts, -2
Lucic - 7GP, 1G, 0A, 1Pt, -4
Kopitar - 7GP, 1G, 0A, 1Pt, -4
Lewis - 7GP, 1G, 0A, 1Pt, -3
Muzzin - 7GP, 0G, 0A, 0Pts, -6

Most of those goals coming in the Edmonton game, and tonight. The only 2 games where they scored more than 2 goals. That Kopitar goal was in OT, so during the normal part of the game, he somehow has 0 points. Sort of getting not a whole lot out of Kopitar and Carter at home against division opponents.

Quick - 22GA on 167 SA, for a .868sv%. An average of 24 SA per game. What's the point of keeping shots to a minimum again?

Wow the top line is really tearing it up against the Pacific Division.

Kopitar, play like this is worth $80M?

Well, that was a waste of money

Saw that live against my better instincts, had a feeling there would be carryover tonight. Honestly, felt like a team that wanted to rest on a lead all game and didn't act dangerous again until it was too late.

I'm glad they lost, TBH. Going into the holiday break getting the **** kicked out of you like that will make them stew on it until its over. 5 GA in 3 of 4 games? Guess what's the absolute ONE stat I know we'll correct?

Should help be a catalyst for roster moves, imo. Doughty looks roasted already. Not that anyone on D looked good but you can tell on this team who has been killed by minutes.

Sometimes your hand is hit so hard it affects a nerve in your knee

I literally nearly left the game at this point. Probably a slash, DEFINITELY an embellishment. You don't go down like that screaming, then get up fine AND stay on for the powerplay. Didn't he figure into that goal, as well? Lucic was giving him some words near the end too, I would as well, don't pretend to be tough near me ever again. Not going to blame the game on that, were plenty of other occasions to be mad, but my god, that's what fines are for. Shameful.

Don't usually comment post game and I've made a point not to get overly upset about losses and overly happy about wins. But I hated the effort tonite by over half the team including Kopitar and Gaborik. I'm convinced Lucic can't play with them.

Lucic/Kopitar is the new Carter/Richards.

Sutter just can't help himself despite overwhelming evidence that there is no chemistry.

This is all I could think all night. There are players who just don't have chemistry, but Lucic and Kopitar just seem flat out toxic for one another. They actively both make the other look terrible.

Don't worry, he'll play like he is worth 80M when he get that contract. Now he is playing like he is paid now... :naughty:

Do we still have a home game against the Sharks left this year? Perhaps we'll then manage to build a 3-0 lead and lose the game.

That particular nightmare is over. Except maybe the playoffs. Still have 5 home games left against the Ducks and Flames though, so don't take a nap.

Overall, big picture, they're in 1st place, and tied for 4th in the league for points per game. Up and down in the way they got there, but, it's something.

Ok I was bored and went to the main board. There is a Quick hate thread at the moment. I have learned he is the most cheating goalie ever. He does things like: losing his helmet, standing his ground and covering the puck with his glove to prevent goals. He needs to do more cheating, especially that last one.

In the first 3 games of the season, and the last 5, they're 1-6-1. Between those two slumps, they were 19-5-1. They weren't going to keep getting 39 points in 25 games.

By the way, the Kings gave up 5 again. It must be line combos. I'm sure the right forward line combos will fix the problem.

Just jumping in here but here are some thoughts:
Brown played like a beast the first 30 min of the game, than seemed to dissapear in the 3rd and late in the 2nd.
Lucic needs to play with someone who has a right hand shot. If Sutter wants Pearson with TT than I think Lucic needs to be with Brown.
Kopitar had a great 3rd IMO, really tried to get the Kings the tying goal. Tried to create offense and was being physical. Was good to see.
McNabb on Pavelski's 2nd PP goal...what the hell were you doing.
All I heard about yesterday on the local radio station was the flames come back a year ago. Was hoping a kings win and flames loss would stop that..instead Johnny H got another hat trick and LA blew another 3rd period lead. December 22nd you suck.

Clifford is missed in the bottom 6 more then people realize. His physical play wearing down opposing players isn't happening leaving them fresher for the 3rd then they should be. Say what you want about the lack of scoring in bottom 6 but without the physical play we will lose more
