The playoffs can't start soon enough. Home ice, road, Nashville, SJ, Anaheim, Chicago, what's the difference. It'll be closer to 2013/2014 than 2012 any which way.

I cant be the only one noticing DeBoer going full-game-7 with his lineup while Sutter was scratching his balls.

Sharks, almost without fail, put their top-six/best d out against our bottom lines. Sutter responded by putting out our 4th line/3rd pairing against Couture-Thornton-Pavelski-Burns-who****ingcares for a goal against. Like, they literally loaded up like it was do or die.

It. Doesn't. Matter.

I said this in the GDT, one team played the 3rd to win it, the other just played.

I really wish we'd call Gravel back up, he looked solid when he was here.

The thing that has me worried is the 20 goals against in the last 5 [1-4]. That's what we give up in a month.

They're regularly giving up 3+ goals per game. It hasn't sat well with me. The style of play that identifies this team is slipping away from them. Perhaps Schenn's crappy defensive play is contagious.

versus a coach who is experimenting with lines just to see how they react. Darryl is just doing his kid with a magnifying glass over the anthill impersonation. Let's all take a deep breath. Unless you REALLY think the team that was 1st in GAA all season magically fell apart to be the literal worst in the NHL right after clinching.

The real question is if Kings will be able to turn switch when the play-off start. Because they secure play-off so early, they went into cruising mode and I'm not sure if you can just switch this just like that. It could happen again that they put themselves into a hole before they will be able to start playing again on the highest level. The question is if it won't be to late.

In first Stanley cup season they needed to fight till last game for PO and they just brought great regular season ending into superior PO run. In second Stanley Cup season they clinched PO few games before end of regular season, they cruised through rest of the games and were humiliated in first two games against Sharks before they started to look like serious team again. Now this break between chlinching PO spot and start of PO is even bigger.

I believe at least last five games of regular season Kings must play like their season is depending on them, without conserving the energy and with clear agenda to win them, if they want to be in the right shape at the start of the PO. Othervise it won't end good...

If we drop to 2nd and end up playing the Sharks in the first round, I hope they think we're going to play the same way we did tonight. ;)

I was considering killing myself when I remembered just 5 games ago, we were the best team in the world and #1 on the ESPN power rankings. So, I'll give it just a few more games.

all you had to do to realize that they're just chucking guys out there to see what happens is look at the D pairings last night

was just about all over the place

Brilliant. Post of the night.

I like this Wes McCauley guy and his dramatic call. Life at home must be fun.

"People, I am going....to mow the lawn. Right now!"

"Wife, we are past the point of no return!"
"No, dear. Just make a u-turn at the next light."

Not too worried, most important thing is to get and stay healthy.

Only real concern is Scuderi and especially awful Schenn getting exposed in the playoffs. Thought the Randy Jones days were in the past.

My favorite was absolutely running over all the top teams in the Central to clinch, then turning into the worst defensive team in the world. I wonder...

This, he could pull a Dowd and push someone out of the lineup. At the very least it would give some rest to Scuds/McNabb/Schenn. I just hope that in the playoffs, Sutter goes with a puck mover paired with a stay at home guy. It worked well for us in the past, and we still have 3 decent to amazing mobile defenseman that can drag a pylon around. Our forward group should be lethal once Gaborik and Versteeg come back.

Another late-season meltdown, at this point the main goal becomes securing 2nd in the Pacific to have home ice for at least one round.

I get what Sutter is doing, but it doesnt make it any more palatable. I know better than to doubt this team so I wont but its a bit concerning when Lecavalier is the hardest skater on your team
the energy just hasnt been there since they clinched

Same thing he's doing to the Ducks. I've been to 3 of the 4 Kings/Ducks games this season and it's clear the Ducks have made significant adjustments while the Kings have changed nothing. I doubt Sutter is going to play right into the hands of the Ducks forecheck if they meet in the playoffs.
