So, what looks better? Home ice against a Cali team with history of fragility and choking?

Or

Pekka Rinne, Ryan Johanson, Forsberg, Josi, Weber, Neil?

As far as the defense goes, I thought McNabb played pretty well last night. Schenn needs some improvement, but wasn't horrifying. The reason we lost is because Muzzin and Martinez had incredibly poor nights, but they'll straighten out in playoffs. I think people are forgetting that how the ice time is distributed now wont be the same in playoffs. Sutter will go all out to win every game. We might very well see a lot less of Schenn and Scuderi.

At any rate, there was nothing that could be done about the D this year. No one even passable was on the market, and we are poor on assets. But we aren't the only team with a D problem in playoffs, and we have the system and forwards to make up for our short comings. I think the biggest problem right now are Carter and Brown. Carter has no been the same for months, and Brown continues to kill offense where ever he goes.

We had a month or so of unsustainable play and scoring...its time we started taking our lumps for that. We still have a few weeks before playoffs, hopefully things are sorted out by then.

coin flip...both will be hard tests.

Nashville should start getting a rep for doing nothing in the playoffs but being a strong regular season team too IMO

I wouldn't want to face Nashville.

Off-day = slow day so might as well have another look-see at Wes McCauley's dramatic announcement of the good goal.

Or, as Greg Wyshynski put it,

Kudos to McCauley for unleashing a Frank Drebin-as-Enrico-Palazzo level of over-the-top drama in his call. Had he moonwalked and done finger guns, not an eye would be batted.

It's going to be a grind no matter who they play. Even if they somehow faced the Wild, they have 1 ES goal against them in 3 games this season. The Sharks, and especially Pavelski, have killed the Kings in LA this year. The Ducks have taken care of them the last few games, at home or on the road. They had to go into 3v3 OT twice for their 2 wins against Nashville.

Just remember this was game 10 in just 17 days. We need to get into the playoffs where we can get on an every other day with an occasional second day off. This stretch was just brutal.

And like clockwork, he shows up to **** on Muzzin.

Muzzin set up the first goal, hesitating on holding the puck in, got trapped out there on an iceing right after. The that spectacular save Quick made before the end of the period.... rewind a few seconds and you see Muzzin blowing it again. Then Muzzin going for the hit behind the net and allowing the puck to be passed back out to the front? Yeah bad deflection Quick should get, but that needs to be prevented. Muzzin earned it. He was the worst defender out there tonight.

Just had a thought... about the Scuderi/Schenn pairing... what if Greene comes back. Could we see Scuderi/Greene?

possible but I would hope we would see Greene Schenn first.

Yeah, he had a terrible. But osprey acts like this is typical Muzzin. I doubt Sutter would tolerate that from him.

So we obliterated some great teams on the way to clinching, and have played half-assed since, and people are worried.

Maybe I should take a break until the playoffs.

This.

Are people really worried with the recent play? The Kings are not a team that can coast to victories, they have to put out effort. Once they clinched the playoffs, the Kings are playing about 65% of their capacity.

One thing ive noticed this year, You guys always give up a pp goal at the worst time of the game and end up loosing the game. Has the PK been an issue for you guys?

Yes it's not horrible but it's not where it would normally be for this team.
And I think part of the problem is the fact that even though they control the play they don't seem to draw calls.

This is the part that's concerning, even with obvious trips, and dives. :dunno:

Was thinking about this today. I don't think it will be a concern in the playoffs when the refs tend to not call as much anyway. So in a way it is conditioning the Kings to play playoff style hockey

The main thing every other goddamn fan base complains about is how the Kings "get away with" all these supposed penalties anyways, so yeah I'm not sure it matters in the long run. Should theoretically benefit them in the postseason.

reconnected with a buddy this weekend that brought up how LA gets away with so much cap circumvention...I immediately decided I would leave him as a distant buddy...re-connection failed

Please tell me your not serious. 80 percent of my friends and family are kings fans.. I would never let sports get in the way of friendship though lol
