Pleasantly warm, AZ
Off to do some car shopping, after this happened last Friday night.

Everyone's OK, just not the car.

8:00 it finally came back on. It was starting to get real cold in here. Thankfully to the utility workers for braving the cold to fix whatever happened.

Not sure how close you are to Malden but looks like there was a manhole explosion and parts of Malden into Melrose are out.

I'm on the Everett/Chelsea line. But I saw on my Ring App about that!

Seems like lots of cities are having issues.

Hopefully everything will be okay tonight.

It's -1F, the windchill takes it below -20F, and my elderly dog decided now was a good time to have to take a slow, gingerly dump.

THANKS DOG
I am DREADING my dogs going out tonight.

I have pee pads set up by both doors anyways.

I'm hoping they just say screw it and use the pads. It physically hurts my face. I just had to grab a trash bag from the porch and was shocked at how bad it was.

Yeah it is painful.

My dog is old, but she's part Spitz and well tolerant of the cold. She just took her slow ass time, as if she was riding the HOV lane on I93 at 45 mph and laughing her ass off at everyone behind her.

Sitting out here in my Bruins sweatshirt in my little civic. Figured I'd start it and let it idle at least 10-15 minutes.

Car says it's -12F. I know that's laughable to the Canadian friends here but I really don't want to wake up tomorrow morning to a dead battery.

I normally walk from Matthews Arena to Kenmore Square after a game, but I wimped out and headed straight for the Symphony T stop and took the roundabout away to the catch the 57 bus. Minus-7 in Newton at the moment, haven't seen that in a while.

0 degrees, cold water in the bathroom is frozen, and my little hybrid that could just STRUGGLED on the drive home. The electric motor worked just fine. Gas engine struggled mightily. Felt like the throttle just didn’t wanna open.

Just spent a while in the cellar holding a hot hair dryer up to the water lines for the bathrooms. Dryer shocked me something fierce twice. So I’ve called it quits on that for the night. It will have to wait until tomorrow…or Sunday.

Of course my boy dog needed to go outside just now. I almost fell down the stairs. The worst part is the wind chill. Its Wizard of Oz, house floating in the air wind. If i had to bet, whatever my dog did in the yard, it's immediately frozen. Luckily he ran his ass right next to me and didnt lollygag around the yard like he normally does.

Like I said before, without there being any snow on the ground, this cold is absurd for no damn reason.

It's -28C with the windchill but by later in the day it will be up to -4C, it was pretty short lived here, just a couple of days.
Balmy later on!

This is some legit cold for Boston. -18F in VT is a few times a year but -10f in Boston? Wow

I think the house I owned in Marblehead would break if it ever got that low.

Well at least extreme cold comes with sunny mornings which have been lacking

Praying my car starts. I need to suck it up and go to the store for a few things and also so I can actually drive my car. The last time it was brutally cold my car battery shit the bed. I do have a portable jumper that I will be bringing with me.

I’ll be remote starting my car a few times today.

Glad I waited to cut my hair bc it is extra insulation on my neck lol

It hit -10 at Logan this morning, the coldest recorded in the city in SIXTY-SIX years.
😨

The last time Bostonians awoke to a morning as cold as February 4th, the year was 1957 and weather satellites didn’t even exist yet. For that matter, Sputnik, the world’s first artificial satellite, wouldn’t go into space until the fall of that year.
