Speculation: Simple question, Playoffs Yes or No

Perhaps the issue lies with us, the fans; perhaps we fail to recognize the true nature of the Sens. I believe we may need to consider trading some of our core players, as they seem to lack the necessary qualities to elevate this team to the next level.

If we don’t make the playoffs, it means the goaltending wasn’t good enough and the skaters as a group didn’t learn how to win.

So we go into the summer with no cap space, without a 1st round pick the next year going into a season with questionable goaltending and some obvious core moves made, not a great prospect pipeline no one is coming to save the program, a coach with a questionable NHL win record and a pissed fanbase.

Long range Sens forecast is either massive storm or kicking off the summer with great vibes after enjoying some Sens playoff energy and can’t wait for more next year. There’s really no in between

Sens have used up all the rebuild capital. It’s playoffs or a summer with a tuned out and for the hard core fans pissed fanbase.

Hard no, the team doesn't have it and apparently isn't anywhere close to taking that next step. Some of the "core" players are not as important to the team as people seem to think. Either attempt to fix it by making a few bold moves or run this predictable course of being a division and league bottom dweller for a few more years. The team and fans are always making excuses for what should be completely inexcusible at this point in time.

There literally should be no excuse for not making the playoffs this year.

There is 1 WC spot that is wide open and all the teams competing for it are mediocre, either rebuilding or past their prime.

Our biggest competition is Boston and they have to rely on a 36 year old Brad Marchand to be a difference maker!

I'm more confident that we'll make the playoffs when we look at the teams we have to edge out. Isles, Sabres, Wings, and Pens. Not sure if we can go deep, but lets just get there ffs. Definitely think we can play better than those 4 teams

Crazy that after playing like crap for the last ~5 or 6 games, we're still in a wild card spot by pts%

Next 20 games are tough. 11 against top end teams.

WSH x3, TB x2, WPG, TOR, NJ, DAL, FLA, MIN.

You probably need to go 12-8 to be "in the mix" by the deadline.

Ottawa is done like dinner they will lose to pittsburg and Dallas there year is done the loss to buffalo sealed there fate they will never recover ullmark is not returning anytime soon time to gut this team and start over again

Yes if Ullmark plays at least 25-30 games.
I am not so sure he will play 20-25 more games.

I know he had been available for a lot of games with Boston but played less because he could share the net with Swayman.

He can't share the net here. He has to be the number 1 and if he plays 50+ games it will be the very first time doing that in his career.

I just think his body won't be able to take playing so many games all of a sudden at age 31 after playing an average of 34 games throughout his career. (not including two years where he only played 1 game and 5 games)

Stutzle is leading the Sens with 41 points in 40 games. That puts him at 31st in league scoring. He has only scored 12 goals. (25 expected goals on the year)

I don't know how we expect to win as a team when our best player is so far behind the rest of the league in scoring.

This is not the old NHL where a point per game puts you in the top 5 in scoring. The Sens lack an enormous amount when it comes to talent at the forward position.

I know Stutzle can dive with the best of them, but this isn't the summer Olympics.
