Simple Question PLAYOFFS Yes or No

Hanging in there…. Thinking we will be, at the very least, seeing a lot of meaningful games for the rest of the season

Reasons to be positive:
• We've played more road games than anyone in the East so far. 20 of our 34 remaining games are at home, and we're much better at home.
• Ullmark will be back (right?)

Reasons to be negative:
• The Rangers seem to be getting their act together and will probably add JT Miller soon
• We can't score goals so everything will be riding on Ullmark's back

Can't say if they did or not, but I believe we did claimed it (knocking out Red Wings) after the mid season mark in the season where we , and acquired Giroux and DeBrincat, and then it was a free fall after that if you remember the western road trip
They didn’t.

5th time shut out in 11 games

No Ullmark, No Norris (lol?)

Brady 0 points last 9 games
Batherson 1 goal in what 16 games ?

Can’t see it.

Hopefully they wake the f*** up and start scoring some goals so we can make a run final 30 games or so

Ok, so we're currently:

3rd in the atlantic in the standings,
7th in the East by Pts% (first Wildcard spot).

Hockey ref has us at 59.3% chance of making the playoffs,
Money Puck has us at 70.3% to make the playoffs

Tankathon has us having the 5th easiest SOS remaining in the east
Power ranking Guru has us as having the 4th easiest in the east, and 2nd easiest in the Atlantic.
We have the 2nd most Home games remaining in the east, 3rd most in the league.

When do we start cruising with this easy schedule?

Out next 6 before the dumbass 4 Nations cup exhibition series

Beating the Florida teams would give us such a huge boost. Preds should be a win as well. Caps and Wild are coin tosses imo.

Hoping we go 4-2 in the next 3 games but think it'll be something like 2-2-2 with every game being a 1g game lol

Interesting thread to go back and see how you felt at the very beginning... Here's a couple of mine

I think we make it this year, I'm a believer in Ullmark, and I have to think one of these years we'll manage to stay healthy and free from 40+ game suspensions, why not this year.

Looking like my initial belief in the team was well founded

at it is to say, what are the non-negotiables for making the playoffs.

1. Goaltending needs to be at least close to average or better. I'm very confident we have the guys in place to make the playoffs.
2. Less than 270 goals against. I think goaltending alone should get us there, but I also believe our D is better suited to achieve that. I'm targeting 255 as a team goal, but I do think we can be better than that.
3. More than 255 goals for. We were close last year, and I think from a personnel perspective we should be able to hit that mark without a problem, assuming the next Non-negotiable is met.
4. Reasonable healthy season. This one is a wild card. Lose a key player like Ullmark, Stutzle Sanderson or Brady for an extended stretch and it becomes an uphill battle, lose multiple guys overlapping and it might just be insurmountable
Reviewing my "non-negotiables"
1. Goaltending has indeed been better than average
2. we will allow well less than 270 goals against
3. Failing averaging 7 goals a game for our final 5 games, we aren't going to hit 255, likely finish around 235 (but we make up for it in overshooting my GA goal)
4. We have been reasonably healthy (about average league wide in terms of health).

I don't see a team ahead of them from last year that is meaningfully regressed so I will say no.

I think they will play meaningful games at the end of March.

Glad to see that they surpassed my expectations.

The New York Islanders ended up having the type of season I thought the Senators would have. Turns out they were also one of the teams that regressed.

So best option for us will be : Carolina really first place, ( because not perfect goalies + without star D + Svechnikov no more what he was in past. very balanced and fast roster but anyway, think its best option for us,

Hurricanes
Leafs
Panthers
Lightning
