What are Philadelphia's needs in a trade for Simmonds at the draft?

2018 1st, 2019 2nd and?

Hyman - Matthews - Simmonds
Brown - Nylander - Kapanen
Marleau - Kadri - Marner

Can resign him if they bridge Marner then sign him long term when Marleau expires.

Wtf?

RW is a huge strength for this team right now. Why would we trade assets for another winger?

I love Simmonds but it would be a stupid move on our part to add him.

Fair warning: value may not be the determining factor in a trade anyway. Simmonds submits a 12 team no trade list every year, and he's on record as having grown up a Red Wings fan and hating the Maple Leafs. It's very likely that Toronto's on that list, and there's no guarantee he'd be willing to waive.

That said, we'd need an NHL-ready wing prospect that fits the age of our defensive corps going forward, and a second lottery ticket, to provide some value if the prospect falters. The deal would likely need to be structured around Kapanen and your #1 for it to make sense from our end.

I think with Nylander making the move to Center were not as deep as once thought.. Marner and Kapanen yes but Brown flips to either wing and after that... not a lot of guarantees. Simmonds brings the physical net presence. I think he would be a good addition.

For an unsigned Simmonds, I'd say 1st + 2nd + Kapanen is in the ball park.

For a signed Simmonds though, you're likely looking at 1st + 2nd + Liljegren + Kapanen.

He's a perennial 30 goal scorer who still should have 4-5 more years of being capable of 25-30 Goals, 55 points, and a lot of physical play.

Not sure why the Leafs want or need Simmons, who is a rental, and at a position we already have a glut of.

I love Simmonds and think he'd be a great fit on the Leafs but that's a lot to pay for a PP specialist with 1 year left.

So you're suggesting Simmonds returns about the same or more as McD did at the deadline?
What would you suggest the return be from the Avs?
As delusional as this is, it's not surprising considering the poster. Legendary Leafs hater.

For 1 year of Simmonds one of the better forward prospects and a first sounds about right. Otherwise it's an overpayment.

Last year his price-tag would have been a lot higher.

WOW....what a bust Marner is drafted 4th overall and he's just a 3rd liner.

Unless the Leafs blow the Flyers away with an offer, I would prefer to trade him out West

1st+Kap is fair. Is it a smart move for the Leafs? I don't know.
I agree with this.
That's probably the package it would take but I'd be surprised if the Leafs took it, considering they're likely letting a more productive JVR walk because of the cap and a log-jam of wingers in the minors.

First and Kap is probably the correct value, but a) I thought RW was a Toronto strength, and b) there's a good chance Toronto is on his NTC list based off previous comments he's made.

It's called balance. Marleau - Kadri - Marner has been one of the hottest lines in the league since Babs put them together.

That lineup is scary with all 3 lines being a major threat

Why would the Leafs go after Simmonds? As good as he is our current RW are Nylander, Marner, Brown, and Kapanen. We are playing a guy as skilled as Kappy on the 4th line... we don't need more RW

Yup...as stated the Kap+1st is the value we would be looking for, but doesn't make much sense for the Leafs.

Simmonds to a team out West who needs a top 6 RW makes more sense.

Extreme overpayment for a declining player. Trading for and giving simmonds a big deal could be detrimental to the leafs. He is fgoing to be a lucic like boat anchor. Leafs have amazing talent on the wings and wont make a dumb trade for someone like simmonds.

For what Simmonds brings Toronto could definitely use his toughness and skill. I’d rather Simmonds then Brown.

Nylander to Center, Brown can play either wing.

as I said above:

Hyman - Matthews - Simmonds
Brown - Nylander - Kapanen
Marleau - Kadri - Marner

3 balanced lines.
