Would like to see these line ups for Washington:

Pominville - Hodgson - Vanek
Ennis - Grigorenko - Stafford
Foligno - Ott - Kaleta
Gerbe - Hecht - Leino/Scott

But we'll probably see

PHV
Foligno - Ennis - Stafford
Ott- Hecht - Leino
Gerbe - Hecht - Scott

Well which is it? He can handle it or he needs to learn?

He's been playing in the NHL soundly, he can handle the pressure. He needs to learn the situations. At least that's what Ruff thinks, or else he wouldn't say that. So why not play him through it.

But with the current hysteria on the board is in right now, rational thought has left the building.

Which is why I don't even bother anymore. Sounds like the same old stuff though. But since I don't join the refrain, it's "ballwashing".

I can't say I watched this game, so I can't add my comments on it. But hey, the Amerks won tonight and I saw that.

He can handle learning without being a complete liability doing it. It's not like Lindy is throwing Jaroslav Kristek out there. He let Adam falter defensively for a quarter of the year, I'd say Grigorenko is far superior in that aspect than Adam.

$1300 for tickets and a few bucks more for Centre Ice--just to make my high blood pressure medication work harder? We got the breaks against Philly and Toronto but tonight evev outstanding goaltending could not hide the horrible play. I did not think we were a top 10 team but I did think we would show up for every game. I do not want bs from Ruff. If he knows what the problem is then fix it. If he does not know-fire him. Regehr, slow as he is, looked like a superstar compared to our decamillionaire Myers. I do not know if he has young man's disease--too much money and freedom with what that leads to-but Gary Roberts bootcamp for him next year or God what???

He's talking about a tougher line out against Staal not about getting caught with Grigs out against Staal

Ok maybe that's what he meant, it can be taken the way I undertood it as well. Get off your high horse and consider that. I haven't been assuming Grigorenko is gone either. In fact I think Grigs sitting means Ruff is confident enough in him that he doesn't feel the presure to force him on the ice and decide his immediate future in five games. I still don't think it's the right call in a season that is a LOT more about developing young talent than anything else.

I don't think he should be fired. Sorry.

I also find the hysteria over Grigs to be sad.

The sad part about Grigs isn't that he is benched....... but that he is benched for Kaleta..... when the Sabres are down by one. When the Sabres fell behind one goal Ruff should of ran 3 lines: VHP, FES, Gerbe/Hecht-Grigorenko-Ott..... plus Grigs probably has the best faceoff winning % of the bunch.

agreed. I think it's that we all know, deep down, this team is short another top end center, and knowing this management team, Grigs is the only hope. But he's no that this year. He may have a place on the roster, but he's not the cure, at least not this year.

Here is what you and all the others going ape over him seem to be forgetting.

We have two brand new never before top 6 centers who also need to earn their new roles. They are young but are much farther along in the development of the careers' than Grigs. If THEY weren't getting a chance in these situations then I would be pissed. I'm not remotely angry that a 18 year old kid isn't playing a lot in a game.

For all the freaking out that Ruff is too conservative and can't coach talent. He decided to come into the season with a completely unproven center group that was incredibly young. That seems pretty UN conservative to me.

How is this Lindy's decision? This is the team he was given, he had no choice.

Nobody is looking for Grigorenko to "cure" this team or propel them into a playoff run. Most of us, including me, want to see him get NHL experience and learn no matter how ugly the results are right now, because they're not winning @#$% this season.

I think it's sad he was benched. Not even a chance to give him a fair shake with these 5 games. Keep him or not, it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. With Ruff, all he needs to convince himself not to keep Grigs was that he's right. I don't see how that's not sad in and of itself.

Ruff isn't the coach for a young, developing team. He's going to try to win above all else, whatever careers are scorched along the way don't matter.

Do you have an explanation for the grigs benching? I would love to hear why ruff isn't a complete idiot for playing him 5 shifts with scott and benching him

How about he kept turning the puck over in the offensive zone, or that he shied away from contact? Or that he wasn't forechecking at all? These games are precious points, and Ruff was just trying to win the way he knew how.

Ruff is the GM now? I'm not forgetting that; I just see Grigorenko as having the most potential of them all. But fine, let's just keep going with this. I just hope for your argument's sake that these top two guys can gain/keep the momentum and grow.
