Hopefully the kid line gets another crack tomorrow, plays better, and puts some of these worries to bed.

If not, try flipping the RW's on the bottom 2 lines,

Laf - Chytil - Hunt
Rooney (rather it be Johnny B) - Goodrow - KK

With Laf, you can at least see a floor as a useful third liner. Not sure what kind of player Kakko is going to be at the NHL level. Is he going to score enough to be a top-six forward? If not, will he bring enough other elements to be a bottom-six forward?

Can't wait for Friday to be over so we can roll up to playoffs losing 4 in a row.

On last night's game...

Jones and Hajek got shelled in their own zone. Good thing he created some offense. Schneider and Nemeth joined them with the horrible 3rd period they had. Laf will less ice time than Reaves, despite being our best forward in chances for/against. Boring game with the least amount of total scoring chances on the night.

Kakko's first game back, no superstars in the lineup to draw the better assignments,, yet we are making conclusions about the rest of his and the kid's careers. I'm sure the opinions were the same after his 2 goal game. His first game back last time too was invisible, except for a couple of nice puck control along the boards, just like last night. He Chytil and Laf will be fine once Kakko gets going again after a few practices and another game and having Panarin, Copp, CK and Mika are in the lineup.

Someone said it before, in a lineup filled with AHLers, Geo was the worst of them all night. He clearly had dinner reservations.

Kakko’s floor is a dream bottom 6 player. He’s a boards monster and a possession beast. The only thing missing from Kakko’s game is the production.

@Machinehead called it, Coaches Confirmation Bias strikes again! A) Coach knows rookies cannot help winning teams win, only shitty teams play rookies significantly! B) "Limiting Laf is what has helped him 'blossom' the past few weeks, I knew I was right all along!"-GG

NHL coaches are dinosaurs and so predictable.

Edit: C) Reaves lucky AF ping pong goal further solidifies GG mentality of no skill vets superseding potential star rookies....

This could be the worst comment in a string of amazingly bad comments after this game. The worst in the league?? Stop- please come back to earth. The Rangers have incredible depth and essentially are scratching 4 forwards who would play on 75% of the leagues rosters....

The defense comment is equally terrible- Schneider looks like a seasoned pro at such a young age and Nemmeth is certainly serviceable.

The worst in the league is an exaggeration, but none of the kid line save maybe Laffy are playing what you want a good team's 3rd liners to play as. And Schneider and Nemeth are horrible. I know Schneider is a kid but that doesn't help us in 2022. Also our 4th line is horrendous.

Exactly this, another reason I'm pissed at this "meaningless" loss. We lost 5 in a row in 2006 and got swept. This game was not f***ing meaningless.

I’m surprised at the amount of people that actually gave a shit about the outcome of this game
I am not pissed they lost, the lineup was an AHL lineup, who cares.

No I am pissed I watched it, every last minute then to double down on my idiocy, I watched 15-20 minutes of post game. Which was nothing more than Hank laughing and pointing.

Although Machinehead had fun but he plays with dolls so I wouldn't gauge it on his opinion.

Also what happens when you cut off rebuilds too early and import a bunch of stiffs with no skill merely because “toffness.”
You are so right. That’s what happens. One of the top 3 seasons this franchise has ever had. This place is full of a bunch of Karens.

Jones proved once again that's he's a mini left-handed Fox.

Last night's lineup was that of a team in perpetual rebuild, a bunch of young first round picks a so-so pros. No thank you. More proof Gorton and Drury did the right thing.

Kinkaid has had FOUR seasons that make current Georgiev look like a star.

Goergiev sucks but goaltending sucks. Goaltending is bizarrely terrible league-wide. It's the worst goaltending season since like, the early 90's. Makes Shesterkin's season even more impressive.

Kinkaid was Georgiev when goaltending was at a peak.

He struggled with defensive positioning, but I think its fair to blame that on him playing on his off side.
I don't know how Jones is going to hold up if the game gets heavier and tighter - so I won't use his size against him right now. My current criticism on Jones is 1 - He backs up too much when the defender is coming at him. Several times he was nearly on top of Geo. 2 - His passes/clears off the board often leave to turn-overs. They clear the zone and prevent pressure, but then it's right back in the zone. I think both of those are easy fixes with Jones playing more games, being a regular and not playing nervous/safe.

My issue with Schneider (Aside from being less skilled than Jones overall), is that he plays a little too close with his gap control to the point where he's flat footed and often is beat wide or through the legs. Which is easy to fix? I don't know. But I guess I'd take the guy at least getting the puck out right now.
