Changing criteria that goes against local health policies requires government approval. Plus, negotiation with everyone involved to play under a very different level of health risk involved.

It's not something that can be implemented on a dime, and really not feasible in a short tournament.

I don't have much hope for this tournament to finish, but, there's not much choice other than to stick with the plan, and get as many games in as you can to offset the costs involved.

Forcing the kids into basically jail-like surroundings for what is supposed to be a fun event, and even that doesn't work because they don't have the hotels to themselves. This is dumb, let them go home and celebrate New Year's with their families.

Ya, at the end of it all this was very poorly planned out. Read a tweet, USA is staying at a hotel with a wedding reception planned this week. Public is staying in hotels etc etc. With Omicron being much more transmissible they won't stop the positive tests. Shut it down and move on.
