The first is Boston 1st round pick so it is extremely low

It will be $4.687m in cap savings (but keep in mind Kerfoot is probably gone so that will be $3.5m off the books)

I'd like to resign ROR and Acciari for sure

Should we trade away the 1st for someone to pick up Murray's contract?

Pretty sure we dont need to and at worst a buyout doesn't cost as much as people think.

The second year of that buy out is a $2 mill dead cap hit. That’s the year our cap will be tightest.

You look to move him, but you can’t move a first with him. Under no circumstances should we be buying him out. If we can’t move him, we have to carry 3 goaltenders. We don’t need 8 defenders next year.

I am pretty sure we can make it work with the cap still tbh. So i am not too worried, Pridham is one of the best in the business for being a cap wizard.

It's been like 3-4 years of us hearing we're gonna get screwed by the cap and it hasn't happened yet.

I also don't think it'll cost a first as many assume.

so the asking price for him last summer was less than a 1st, he has only 1 year left, he looked better than the year before, and he will now cost more to move? I can see a 3rd getting it done. The only issue is I think his actual salary is high.

I'd rather let him be the 3rd goalie and pass him through waivers all year in case he is healthy and a team has injuries, and then maybe send him to balance contracts/salary at the deadline than spend too much to ship him out now or buy him out.

We are making the playoffs even if he is 4 mil of dead cap for part of the season.

This. No chance we buyout. No chance.

He's going with an asset. Probably a similar deal to what we did with Mrazek. Trade back in the draft a bit

No chance. Worst case you buy him out but when* healthy he’s an NHL goaltender.

They will ditch Murray for sure in the off-season, but without a Bedard tank fest, the price will be higher.

If he's not on Robidas island he should be tradable with retention.

I agree though that buyout should be the last option (before trading the 1st) as the dead cap in the second year comes at a bad time.
