No response needed, when the Kings had one in Westgarth all that happened was he got his face beat in by Scott. What's he gonna do if no one wants to fight him, assault someone and earn a 5+game and a potential suspension? Just watch him struggle to catch up as you pirouette your way towards the net.

Yes.

I practically guarantee he's brought in for another Kessel incident.

No one in the league is going fight Scott straight up. This signing is indicative of SJ going full truculence and I guarantee fireworks on opening night.

What are we going to do about it? Not a damn thing. Hit clean, pray no one gets hurt, and light them up on special teams. Not going to say I'm not worried, though, since I have no doubt SJ is willing to throw away a game to send a message a la Vancouver. Might buy my ticket for banner night NOW ;)

Let's go along with this. Let's say the Kings do sign an enforcer to counteract John Scott.

John Scott takes a run at one of our guys. Our signee then fights John Scott.

What is that supposed to accomplish? Does that discourage John Scott from doing the same thing the next game? That would be a preposterous notion.

John Scott will always be John Scott. He will deliver dirty hits and take liberties, and there's nothing another enforcer can do about that. The best thing is to just expose him whenever he's on the ice.

I'm less worried about John Scott alone and more worried about the nutcase set of Mike Brown-John Scott-Raffi Torres-Adam Burish. SJ is gonna ice a bottom 6 of total assclowns, only a couple of whom can take a regular shift. What do you think they're trying to do?

The Sharks fans, meanwhile, are absolutely apoplectic about this signing for all the same reasons people are giving here. Doug Wilson apparently believes that Scott will "keep opponents honest", while the fanbase thinks that it will deter absolutely nothing while simultaneously being a waste of a roster spot. Gotta agree with the Sharks fans on this one.

Maybe they went back and looked at how the goon line the Blues threw at us in 2013 playoffs gave problems and are trying to replicate it. The Kings still won the series.

2 of the 4 will be suspended at some point, bank on it!

i guess this is the new mentality in SJ

this is a joke imo. in this day and age it is increasingly difficult to play the game via physical intimidation like the old days. the rule changes have largely done away with it. not saying Scott can't and won't possibly get a shot on someone, but in the long run it will be nothing. Scott may win the battle, but LA will win the war.

teams no longer can play that style and expect to win like they did in the "good old days" or what ever you wish to call it. if i want to watch a bloodbath and fighting i will watch MMA fights. i watch the NHL for hockey. i appreciate and have no issue with fighting in the game, but the days of the 70s and 80s bench clearing brawls are thankfully a thing of the past.

Scott may do something completely stupid and that will be the end of him

Meh, I doubt we'll seem them much. They'll probably all get suspended sometime during the season.

And the answer is no. It's John ****ing Scott, no need to worry.

It's time for Doug Wilson to go.

But I rather see him stay and keep SJ spinning for years to come. He is absolutely incompetent.

They're going for the Moral Victory Trophy, maybe?

(The actual hardware is that giant cardboard cutout of Torts' Head Jets fans were waving around during the former coach's suspension.)

GM Wilson on signing John Scott: "As we integrate more younger players to our team, John's presence alone can act as a deterrent"

Basically this means if Brown touches Hertyl or anyone under 22, Scott will come off the bench and pound him. Of course when I say come off the bench , I mean in the 20 game suspension way.

I hope more than anything that Brown absolutely punishes someone with a clean open ice hit in that first game just to say so what and "I'm back, *****es!"

Can't believe this cement head even got a contract from someone. Dude couldn't find his way out of a wet paper bag. As useless as t*ts on a boar.

Wilson is going to get Brown's apology if it's the last thing he does :sarcasm:

Twenty years from now he's in a rocking chair smoking...

"He consumed my life. I needed to get revenge. It seemed the more effort and attention I gave him, the more he... won. It drove me insane."

A nurse walks away and shakes her head. She says under her breath, "****ing nutjob."
