Opposing goalie performance in series that Carolina has lost:
Year | Goalie | SV% | GAA |
2019 | Rask | 0.956 | 1.25 |
2020 | Halak (3 GP) | 0.932 | 1.67 |
2020 | Rask (2 GP) | 0.889 | 2.58 |
2021 | Vasilevskiy | 0.94 | 1.77 |
2022 | Shesterkin | 0.949 | 1.72 |
2023 | Bobrovsky | 0.966 | 1.12 |
2024 | Shesterkin | 0.919 | 2.8 |
2024 was really the first time in which Carolina's goaltending had a meaningful impactful on the series. Other years, they've been scapegoats for that chunk of hockey fans that fixate on the position. They've been provided little run support. That's on the skaters, particularly the core forwards that have been a part of the powerplay that has let them down again and again and again.
I'll take my chances with Kochetkov and Andersen no problem. Load up on that forward group. Maybe they can build overwhelming depth 5v5 to overcome another special teams meltdown.
