yes

1st Trade : Tavares, Matthews & Marner for Kane, Karlsson 0% retained

then when the whole hockey world explodes

2nd trade : kane 50% retained , Karlsson 25% retained, Ritchie 50% retained for Tavares 50% retained Matthews 50% retained Marner 50% retained and a signed jersey of Jack Campbell

You think politically correct Dubas will make a move for Evander Kane ?

lol

Well... I mean he didn't move Matthews when he was a) charged criminally in Arizona and b) lied to his bosses about it. I'm not advocating for Kane to come here, just pointing out that Dubas isn't exactly politically correct either lol.

Hate the guy but he is talented and if they can get him at 50% and dump Ritchie I think it makes us one of the favourites to make some real noise.

Kane Matthews Marner
Kerfoot JT Nylander
Mikheyev Kampf Kase
Bunting Engvall Spezza
Simmonds and Clifford

Take Simmonds, top four players and go into a quiet room, take their agents for all that it matters, and say hey what about.......

See where it goes...

We are pretty good here at hf, but those people, would figure something out, not us.

Bunting is gelling with Matthews & Marner
Kerfoot is proving he can be a top 6 winger, and seems to have found a home beside Tavares and Nylander. Although him and Willy have always seemed to work well together regardless.
We don't need the added toughness up front, as we have Ritchie & Simmonds, and I'm sure Clifford will be rotating in and out as well.
Kane has been a locker room issue everywhere he's been in his career. And this team seems like it's tightly knit, and clearly rolling along as a powerhouse in the league.
I don't see the need or desire at all.
My vote is a No

We can get him, leave him in the Marlies all season and bring him in for playoffs hahaha

hell no... he hasnt been liked anywhere he has gone. league minimum....sure, the minute he does anything questionable, send him home.

On paper, it's tempting, especially at a retained salary. However, team chemistry is just too valuable to mess around with right now.

History indicates that it would likely end up badly.

Mikheyev might be in a potential deal

Don't think Kane is 21 years old anymore...how many opportunities to mess up do you give Kane?

Nice defection, I was discussing how Dubas isn't some politically correct guy given how he didn't trade Matthews, which tells me that Dubas isn't above defending assholish behaviour or giving guys 2nd/3rd chances. As for Kane? As far as I'm concerned, he should have been out of the NHL years ago, and I certaintly don't want the Leafs taking on that POS, he's not needed here.

He is very politically correct, but that doesn't mean you don't give your 21 year old star centre a 2nd chance to make it right...those aren't the same things.

Clearly the consensus is most of you do not want Kane in Toronto. I agree it would be a risky play…but the upside could be huge. Could Simmonds keep him in check, on the straight and narrow.

FNo

I'd much rather wait on Josh to be ready and give him a shot at it

Kane hasn't been able to settle in anywhere among all his stops. I just don't see taking the chance of him upsetting the obvious chemistry this team has developed, because of his brand of individualism.

The answer to that is no...I love Simmonds the player but Kane has too many strikes off the ice against him to change his ways
- 2 sexual assault allegations
- Vaccine fraud
- Gambling against his own team
- domestic violence involving his wife

If the cops and courts can't straighten that loser out, what makes you think Simmonds can?

That is really too bad because he is a great hockey player. He is a legit top line LW.

The gambler in me would want us to take a chance. He checks so many boxes of what we need. If they can eat half his salary and send back a protected pick. I would probably do it.
