Between the Covid and gambling shituations it would take a hefty sweetener coming our way. Dudes as radioactive as it gets, justifiably so…
Hard pass

He's the type of the player we could use, and the type of person we should avoid. Both are truths.

Any such deal would have to be at 50%, probably for Ritchie and Holl, with Meloche + 2nd round pick attached. 2nd round pick sent to Arizona for Lyubushkin. Side note.. maybe even try and shake Crouse free while you are at it...

This is the kind of deal that could work. Not to mention the huge pay off if it works.

So is the price worth the headache of dealing with him? I think it might be able to inquire about his price tag. That wouldn't hurt.

So what kind of backlash would there be if the Leafs got him. They would do the week or two circus of parading him around to let everyone know he's working on cleaning up his image from a PR stand. They would send him down to the Marlies for a weekend set of games and then call him up in a low spotlight game, like midweek Tuesday night game. How often would he have to talk about the off-ice crap that he's going through? Every morning skate? No chance. It will be when he goes to court or if he's struggling. Then it will be from the media that he's too focused elsewhere than on the ice.
Is chemistry in the room the only real issue that people are worried about?

Him faking his documents and his gambling problem alone would make it a hard no. Not to mention the other bs
I just meant those are a joke compared to his actual issues.

50% retained, their first rounder, and happily take an L every matchup we meet the next 5 years. Then maybe I’d consider the trade. Maybe maybe not.

edit: to the poster above and anyone else unaware, he is a violent abuser. Domestic abuse, wife beater. Nuff said?

No chance I'd take Kane. Let's remember that he's 30, and he's been a problem everywhere he's gone. He's not a kid anymore. He's not going to change. It should tell you something when a team can't get rid of a 1st line power forward in their prime. I'm all for reclamation projects but this guy isn't it.

There’s no rehabilitating this guy. He is who is. Unfortunate because he’s a hell of a player.

What problem does Kane really have? He has a gambling problem, and a crazy wife that he's been trying to divorce for 3 years now. He was found innocent of gambling on his own teams games. Is he an ass amongst teammates?

Safe to say that the asking price should be low considering the fact that they are apparently willing to lose him for no return other than cap/contract space via waivers. FTR, I don't expect him to be claimed. I'd decline since I feel the risks outweigh the rewards.

Just thought of something.

The gambling debts, that is not really anyone's business beside Mr. Kane and his bookies.

The fake vaccination card, that could be some sort of felony in 20 or odd so Red states.

Go on a road trip, go to jail.

:naughty: :amazed:

None of the abuse has actually been proven. And his wife was actually found guilty of assulting him.

Kane definitely has uncommon drive and work ethic. For example, when most guys hit rock bottom, that's the end of it, and the only way to go is up. Not true for Evander Kane. He rises to the challenge, rolls up his sleeves, grabs a shovel, and keeps digging.

Yup, he's known to be a terrible teammate. Even if you put aside the gambling and his very public divorce, he's known as a total cancer in the room. This stuff goes all the way back to his days in Winnipeg and his issues with Byfuglien and the other vets on those teams. Wherever he goes, trouble isn't far behind. And it's a total shame because he's easily one of the most talented guys in the league and one of the few first line power forwards left.
