Persona aside. Can you imagine having Kane, Simmonds, Ritchie, Clifford come playoff time?

They should look into it.

Kane at 50% is a very good deal and is a perfect fit hockey-wise. They would not find a better fit for that first line mid-season.

The rest Dubas will have to do his homework on but it is time for Dubas to focus on the playoffs. You don't win any prizes for having the most well-behaved team on the planet.

If he won't ruin team chemistry, bring him in.

Sabres' Evander Kane being sued over assault allegations - Sportsnet.ca

This article talks about the first allegation against him. It outlines that he was cleared of the charges. If he paid it off, it would outline settled out of court, or simply dismissed. But he was cleared in this instance. It also talks about another incident but doesn't say what happened.

As far as his issues with his wife go, his claims against her are much more substaintiated. Currently in a custody battle that he seems to be winning, even though he's been accused of abusing his daughter as well as his wife, so what does that tell you?

NHL star Evander Kane's divorce just got even dirtier | Toronto Sun

Does Kane have issues, most certainly, but I believe they are greatly exaggerated to the truth.

How can anyone know this for certain though?

You can only use past behavior to predict future behavior.

Enough said.

Now that San Jose has put Evander Kane on waivers, should the Leafs try to acquire him? Rumor is that San Jose is willing to retain 50% of his salary. Aside all the BS, he is a solid hockey player, 30 goal scorer.

What could a deal look like? Who could Dubas send the other way. Ritchie?

Hard no! This team has had tons of emotional immaturity issues over the past few years, they have finally gotten to a somewhat good place mentally, the last thing this team needs is that nutcase on the team, 30 goals be damned.

It isn't worth disrupting the team chemistry. It's a real asset for this team and Kane just brings baggage and ego.

I wouldn't even accept him for free.

Watch him end up in Boston or the Leafs eventual first round opponent

To be honest if the Leafs lined up against a Boston team with Foligno, Hall and E. Kane, I’d feel pretty good knowing they aren’t the championship contenders they used to be.

And his current teammates don’t want him back in the room. The hardest pass imaginable on this guy.

I don’t think the Bruins will be a legit contender. But if he ended up in NY and they were the first round opponent, it wouldn’t be as much fun for the Leafs.

If the price is cheap yes, I don't want to pay significant assets for him but they do need a LW So if the price is right absolutely

Kane Matthews Marner could be deadly.

Absolutely not. Here's a list of "episodes" from his Winnipeg days. Add all the other stuff we know about him and a clear pattern emerges. Even if not all of this is true, that's a hell of a lot of smoke.

A timeline of Evander Kane 'episodes' with Jets - Sportsnet.ca
I want to outline what his coach had to say on December 12th, 2014, and subsequent issue with teammates February 3rd, 2015. His coach talks about his issues stemming from his activity on Twitter that made fans hate him. Except nothing is all that bad. He had a homophobic post, that's bad, and his pictures flaunting his money is not a good look. He took a photo with some willing cops, making a joke of him being arrested, oh no. Winnipeg fans just seem to be idiots. And the incident on the 3rd was because he wore a track suit to a team meeting. This was bad because they have a team policy on what to wear. Tf do you wear to a team meeting? A flipping full-blown suit? We're they supposed to show up in their birthday suit? What is wrong with a track suit? And Big Buff tossed his clothes into the shower after a team workout. That's a pretty big dick move for wearing a track suit when he wasn't supposed to.

At 50% retained for free, I’d take a flier on him. He surely would contribute more than Nick Ritchie regardless of what kind of shape he’s in.

He should probably go to a small market team though because the shitty Toronto media would tear him apart.

He’s a 7 million dollar talent with a 2 cent brain. If some franchise can reel him in and get him on track, it will look like a steal. If Tony DeAngelo can do it, Evander Kane can too.

This is so intriguing because adding a player like Kane at so cheap is so enticing, it’s one of the things we really need position and style of play

but the team looks so solid that it’s hard to want changes at the same time
