His decision to send Kerfoot (which not many here would have done) was but one of many decisions that contributed to the win. Thanks to his decision on the 9th player in a shootout. What a tactician.
Is it Keefe or is it the GM who defaulted to trading 1st rounders to desperately fix the soft team he built?
If we built on the identify we had going in 2016 of speed and skill with fast forwards who give you no time and space to think or do anything we'd probably be going for cup number 3 right now.
Instead every year we degrade speed and skill, the only identity we had, while throwing darts at grit options (in failure). Rinse and repeat.
After seeing this trend I've lightened up on Keefe. Just needs to relax messing up Liljegren.
Keefe insists on continually playing the Black Holl. GM isn’t responsible for that.Is it Keefe or is it the GM who defaulted to trading 1st rounders to desperately fix the soft team he built?

Shootouts meaningless buddy, these are your own words....we won.
Didn't Holl sit Friday?Keefe insists on continually playing the Black Holl. GM isn’t responsible for that.
There is a pretty small number of rookie coaches that inherited a club with back to back 100pt seasons and their best players just hitting their peak years. Maybe Todd McClellan was close but his group was older and look where his pts pct is at today. Not a dis on Keefe but not an actual measure of his capability either, just a snapshot in time.Keefe definitely does some things I wouldn’t for sure. I did see a stat yesterday that will make some go bonkers : apparently he is #1 in league history for points percentage, minimum 250 games.
That stat seriously lacks context. What's supposed to make me go bonkers about it?Keefe definitely does some things I wouldn’t for sure. I did see a stat yesterday that will make some go bonkers : apparently he is #1 in league history for points percentage, minimum 250 games.

Shootout outcomes are pretty meaningless, but we still won, so it would still be a weird time to try and argue that the coach wasn't trying to win...Shootouts meaningless buddy, these are your own words.

It's certainly interesting how much the team fluctuates between horribly built, soft piece of garbage that our idiot, rookie GM destroyed and all-time dominant superteam that our trash coach drags down to just consistent, top of the league, franchise-record setting levels, depending on the part of the team that's trying to be dumped on at the moment. What's the context? He took a team that was outside of a playoff spot in year 1 and made them a playoff team and then continued his trend of being near the top of the league each year.
Not to mention he was crippled by the incompetent Dubas (seems like a lot of people think Dubas sucks), and he still put together a winning team... Should win coach of the year every year.
Yep. Great game for the Leafs. Look at his line last night.Didn't Holl sit Friday?
So he consistently insists on playing him despite him missing the previous game and not starting last playoffs?Yep. Great game for the Leafs. Look at his line last night.
But 1 is the loneliest number that you’ve ever seen9 is the most powerful natural number.
Nothing. We have a board full of shiznit losers who blow their tops over largely irrelevant things. That stat seriously lacks context. What's supposed to make me go bonkers about it?
Meaningless…..tell that to the Leaf players that celebrated like it was 1999Shootout outcomes are pretty meaningless, but we still won, so it would still be a weird time to try and argue that the coach wasn't trying to win...
Especially when attempting to make that point based on them doing two pretty normal things that any coach would do pretty regularly.
And especially considering we got great chemistry from Matthews-Jarnkrok, a successful coach's challenge, a shootout winner from somebody that nobody here would have picked, etc.
Imma invite you to look at that roster and give that some thought. Is it Keefe or is it the GM who defaulted to trading 1st rounders to desperately fix the soft team he built?

...you're upset that the team celebrated winning?Meaningless…..tell that to the Leaf players that celebrated like it was 1999
