Has something else happened lol
nothing against Wenny, who I like fo-show.. But i think Ekky's value would have been higher this week had he played a majority of the season with a top 6 center that played more his style/pace
Ekky could very well have a Wild Bill Karlsson type of break out season really soon which could really make this trade look baffling in years to come. I hope GMMG has a plan for this #9 pick
Sure. In a magical world you have imagined, he's ahead of Caufield and Dorofeyev....In the world where he's consistently averaged 22+ minutes a night while putting up elite even strength scoring numbers?
Caufield and Dorofeyev aren't going ahead of him in a redraft and they're certainly not returning a 4th overall pick.
Top pairing defensemen are a lot more valuable than one-dimensional wingersSure. In a magical world you have imagined, he's ahead of Caufield and Dorofeyev....
Caufield not going ahead of Byram in a redraft is one of the most insane things I've ever read on this forum, no hyperbole. In the world where he's consistently averaged 22+ minutes a night while putting up elite even strength scoring numbers?

Do you think if Caufield was one year out from being a UFA he would return anything close to a 4th overall pick?Caufield not going ahead of Byram in a redraft is one of the most insane things I've ever read on this forum, no hyperbole.

You might as well cite astrological charts for how useful public NHL WAR models are
So two highly valued members of the organizations that drafted them vs. a guy who has been shipped off twice now?You might as well cite astrological charts for how useful public NHL WAR models are
Value is determined by what the market will bear
There was a bidding war between the Sharks, Rangers and Blackhawks involving the 9th, 5th and 4th overall picks plus other assets to trade for Byram and sign him to what will surely be a 10M+ AAV contractSo two highly valued members of the organizations that drafted them vs. a guy who has been shipped off twice now?
But how does it set the team back exactly? Stenberg is projected to be better then eklund, and then whatever we do with the 9th will most likely be better then whatever halts and svoboda will be.The more I think of this trade, the less I like it. The 9th overall was in play for Byram and it fell through. What now? This trade sets the team back unless the pick is packaged for an established player.. but who?
I can't see anyone being actively shopped. Grier is looking to buy, not selli wonder who GMMG IS actively shopping
There are a lot of players where it is debatable. Byram could go 7th, or he could go 13-15.There was a bidding war between the Sharks, Rangers and Blackhawks involving the 9th, 5th and 4th overall picks plus other assets to trade for Byram and sign him to what will surely be a 10M+ AAV contract
I can't see that ever happening with Caufield or Dorofeyev
I'll admit Byram might not go top 5 in a 2019 redraft but the only guys clearly ahead of him are Seider, Hughes, Boldy and LaCombe with Harley and Broberg being debatable
Can't believe this almost turned into Ekund, Halttunen, Svoboda, 27th OA, AND another prospect for the right to overpay a #4 shitty soft defenseman.
Literally thank lord at least KDx2 (Davidson & Dubas) exist so Grier isn't out there pantsing himself
9th and 27th is pretty fair for Byram imo. That's like the very edge far of the top tier in this draft while 4th is right in the sweet spot plus they added their own RD who was arguably one of their top 5v5 defender. There is prob about 3-4 top pair Ds in the draft per experts and they're likely gone by 9th.
i do love that Sharks moves are really screwing with the Hawks rebuild to overpay lol.
9+27 is fair at peak value, but that wasn't what the initial trade would be. Eklund for Byram 1 for 1 is a terrible trade and this would've obviously been much more than that9th and 27th is pretty fair for Byram imo. There is prob about 3-4 top pair Ds in the draft per experts and they're likely gone by 9th leaving Rudolph who is riskier or Gustaf who has lower upside.
