Both those plays were totally ridiculous, and should give him so much confidence. I don't think he should go back to Sweden, but I do think they need to help build up his confidence. He's generally making the right plays defensively and his skill level is so high I think it would be a bit wasteful to get him off of North American ice and playing against weaker competition. In some ways I don't think he realizes how good he is yet.I feel that with the right development, Eklund really has it in him to be a franchise caliber forward for us. His creativity and IQ are on another level. Like we haven't had that caliber of playmaking from a forward since Thornton (only because we literally haven't had another high end playmaker in a long time)
I find hes been very scared the past few games. Not taking any risks which means no O zone playBoth those plays were totally ridiculous, and should give him so much confidence. Well at least let him know you appreciate it @Sheng Peng because we all doA little off-topic but my goodness Sheng Peng has been a blessing for this franchise.
This was the exact play I was thinking of and he does all the work of finding it, cutting it, breaking it down, and bringing up another play I hadn't even thought about!

I never could stand waiting till Xmas morning to open presents that were already under the tree.
Eklund is the present under the tree.
Open Eklund.
It just looks like he's jittery after so many guys taking runs at him in the first few games. I don't think Boughner is stifling his creativity. Eklund has shown good defensive commitment.Probably the coach telling him to play a less risky game.
Good way to stifle a creative player's development.

Although sending him to Sweden would prevent him from playing on NA ice. It would give him a year to grow and bulk up more, and be a leader for Djurgarden. I have no faith in the Cuda, and the SHL (assuming he went before the 10th game) wouldn't burn an ELC year.
Fwiw his SHL team is down bad, bad. 2nd to last, injuries, mutual termination with the HC, GM seems pretty ass

agreed, i see no benefit of sending him overseas. Let him play on the NA ice, get used to NA and be brought up by the org when readyGetting used to the timing of smaller ice is more important to me than bulking up more but also playing in the AHL doesn't prevent him from bulking up more either. Since he won't burn an elc year in the AHL, I'd prefer he do all that here because the big club would have more ability to help him on that front than going back to Sweden.
