Colton Roberts with a bullet one-timer last night to tie the game vs Kelowna at 3-3 and send it to OT (the Giants would end up losing in overtime)

Video is from the Giants social media manager as there isn't a tweet with the broadcast feed. So it's a little difficult to follow.

The Giants are back in action right now against Wentachee. We'll see if I duck out of this game to watch the Sharks or stick with it.

I also missed the discussion that was happening on the Giants broadcast mid-game, but apparently Sharks' dev coach Luca Sbisa was here (presumably to work with Roberts)?

Roberts ended up with an assist in a 6-2 loss to Wenatchee. Their Washington state road trip doesn't get any easier though as they'll be in Spokane on Wednesday to face the 3rd-in-the-west Chiefs and their high powered attack of Berkley Catton and Andrew Cristall. Then on Friday it's off to Tri-City for a game against the Americans that will break the current tie the two teams have for 6th place in the west. Then Saturday they're off to Everett for a date against the West-leading Silvertips and 2027 draft uber-prospect Landon Dupont before returning home on Sunday to face the Wild once more.

This all has playoff implications for the Giants. Currently they're technically in 7th though they are even on points with the Americans. But they're 13 points up on 8th place Seattle and 15 ahead of 9th place Wenatchee so it'd take a massive meltdown to miss the playoffs. But they are also only 5 points back of 4th place Prince George, which means that home ice for the 1st round is in striking distance (3rd+ is off the table as the Silvertips, Royals, and Chiefs all have at least a 14 point edge on the Giants. Everett is 24 points clear of them. Yes, in theory if Vancouver rattles off an 8-game winning streak and the Royals go into the toilet it would make them catchable for the B.C. Division lead, but that's not happening.)

Unfortunately the Wednesday night game is not the WHL's Youtube freebie. It's Brandon/Edmonton this week. But coming up are some interesting matchups. March 12 is Everett/Spokane, so Catton, Cristall, Dupont, and 2025 draft prospect Carter Bear all in one place. March 19 is Kelowna/Victoria, which is a look at Nate Misskey and '25 projected 1st rounder Cole Reschny, and March 23 (I think that's a typo. the next Wednesday is the 26th) is Medicine Hat/Calgary, pitting presumptive 2026 1st overall pick Gavin McKenna against the Sharks' Carson Wetsch.

Historically, if a player was putting up numbers like Chernyshov or Dickinson, I'd expect them to start the next year in the NHL...but I have a sense that the numbers are a little inflated. Still, it seems very possible that Chernyshov isn't rookie-eligible in 2027, and I expect Dickinson to get a very long look at camp. He's simply much too good for the OHL...
