Seems even above expectation. I mean leading the entire chl in D scoring by a mile? Hell, I think he’d be like 5th in overall chl scoring… not just OHL, all three!

And with his size too. It’s hard to say that he’s not exceeding expectations.

Hopefully, he is working on his deficiencies defensively and in decision making. I haven’t followed him closely, but it was in those areas that he was far below nhl standard this training camp.

If he has to be an nhler next year, I would sure like to see his defensive game be at least close to nhl level.

Does anyone follow his defensive details closely? Like not the points, but the defensive body positioning, stick use, decision making, outlet passes, etc. I wonder how he’s doing in those areas?

Jux posted a scouching video that covers a lot of his details. It was positive, but not glowing. Specifically felt he could use his reach, speed to close gaps more. He's so damn big and fast he's unlikely to get burned- though I will say his D reminds me of Burns at points.

In addition to, 2G/3A is ridiculous, he also was a +4 on a 5-3 even strength game, on for all 5 non-PP/PS goals, and only one of the 67s. The -1 he earned was on a London forward turning over the puck in the neutral zone, resulting on a 2-2, where London's goalie was beat clean. It was his D partner's man who scored.

Here's all 13 goals: Ontario Hockey League

The things I'd like to see Dickinson get better at are the areas Vlasic used to be truly exceptional. Never got the sense he was much of a mentor, but if he were going to teach BDE how to handle gap control, that'll be worth the $7M eventually.

Has Vlasic ever worn a letter? I feel like he’s become an ever more fermented pickle as he gets older.

He did around 14-15, but I think (and have said before) that it's indicative that the longest-tenured Shark, a former alternate captain, and 1000+ game NHL veteran doesn't wear one now.

Yeah, Granlund’s been here for two years and seems to be more a mentor than Vlasic has ever been.

Maybe if Celebrini and Smith were two adorable Dobermans…
