There are still guys out there who are cheaper and better than Vanecek, though. If I'm Vancouver, I'd much rather sign Kevin Lankinen or even Martin Jones to league minimum than take on Vanecek's contract for the whole year.

They might have just wanted another goalie. They did say they wanted to go into the season with five under contract - given the injury concerns Blackwood and Vanacek have, plus now Askarov, having a mediocre tweener goalie like Dell in the system isn't a bad idea.

Day To Day in the preseason implies more precautionary than anything else. I just hope this doesn't turn into a CMC situation where we don't think it's serious and then when the season starts it was much more serious than what was reported.

I'm debating how much of the preseason I really want to follow (Not really excited for Hockey season yet) so if Celebrini isn't playing, that's a good reason to just read the summary later on.

Yeah, I skipped 49er preseason. They don't even play the starters anymore in games, so I don't care.

Yes and apparently it was not an easy shutout (I didn't watch).

I suspect he stays in the AHL until there's an injury to Vanecek or Blackwood - both have looked pretty solid to start the year. Alternately, if a trade happens for one of those guys, he'll be up with the big squad.

Total SWAG but I'm guessing we see his first start toward the end of Nov.
