That wasn’t shooting for an empty net it was a poor decision to wildly fling it down the ice when your line is dead tired. He needed to get it out and get a line change. It was a bad decision by a veteran player. No excuses.

He's made a lot of poor decisions lately for a veteran player. If he was a rookie he'd have had his butt stapled to the bench a number of times the last couple of weeks. I get the he doesn't have the same energy and physical ability that he once had but I expect a player with his level of experience to make much sounder decisions with the puck on his stick.

They didn't lose because of systems - they can't win a face off, Reimer was good, bad puck management at the end, Rittich was off.
Agree there was a lot of bad puck management tonight which was maddening and inexplicable. BUT this team will go nowhere fast trying to hold on to a 1 goal lead late in the game. Constantly giving up possession and letting the other team come at you is a recipe for disaster. Compound that with playing a total collapsed box when the other team is pressing with 6 attackers is also a surefire problem. No aggressive pressure on the blueline, with everyone collapsed below the circles requires one bad bounce/error in judgment and .... .

Then compound all of that with the personnel decisions mentioned earlier. Dubois and Wheeler were a strange choice, but I couldn`t understand having Pionk out either.Just bad coaching all around..

pretty sure both pld and lowry were going down the middle and I expected him to flip it out and have them race for it but for some reason he tried to ice the game himself

I think you have to look at the positives here, and realize that the Jets really dominated this game which is a really good sign, and played well against the Oilers as well, so things are improving.

We've got to fix some major problems like

1) Scoring on the powerplay, and I believe we had 7 -- zero goals. As the radio post game was saying, teams know it's the same cross ice pass to Connor, and their taking this away. Jets need to show some diversity, and use more point shots. Look how deadly Morrissey is with his point shot.

2) Hold practise winning "faceoffs" which has been a major problem for the Jets, and this has to change.

If we beat the Wild next game, all will be fine again on this board, but for now, the venom is flowing.

This is a game where the lack of an offensive scheme and going add hoc on offense hurt the team. We had a number of great looks but most came from head with the goalie set. A more structured offense with proper layering and rotation and we would have had lanes to make Reimer move much more for saves.

This team has garnered 5 of a possible 24 points against the likes of Columbus, Philadelphia, Montreal, Detroit, San Jose, NYI and Washington.

That’s 19 wasted points because they can’t or won’t focus well enough to get things done. If you can’t get game ready for teams like that and find ways to execute/win then you don’t belong in the playoffs as far as I’m concerned. This group has reverted back to their uncoachable ways.

Sure, Washington and NYI aren’t as weak, but they’re not dominant contenders either. I’m sure most of us would be pleased if they had gotten even 9 of those possible 19 points. Where would that put them in the standings?

Lots to be excited about with the future of the team - on one hand, the core forwards feel like their time as a group is done, on the other, a rebuilding team won't be fun to watch get pumped for 5 to 7 years.

Shitty selfish play by Scheifele... he's back to ALL of his worst habits and more. Mr perfect fkn double shifts in overtime... what an asshole.
I said it last year and the season before he has got to go. I do not care how talented he is or that he is a point a game player. He is selfish to the core and is the cause of the rot!

I think there's plenty of blame to go around for the entire team in a game that should've been won 4 or 5 to 2. Both goaltending and skaters were lacking.
I agree. Blaming solely Rittich for this is kind of missing the forest for the trees IMO. 0/6 on the PP and we can’t convert on our chances. PP is a real problem and we should’ve blown the doors down on a bottom dweller when we had six PPs tonight. It’s been an issue all season — passing it around the perimeter a bunch of times and then shooting it into the goalie’s chest with no traffic in front. Frustrating.

Honestly I think once Bones gets our d down patt we are going to have to turn the keys over to a coach who can build a robust offensive scheme on top of it. We have very similar offensive issues as his Dallas teams did. No real systems and hoping your talent can adhoc their way to goals.

I'm also wondering if we aren't starting to see the decline of Mark. He's been better in terms of defensive play but his offense has taken a bit of a hit. I wonder what we can realistically expect from him through his 30's. I'm thinking a Wheeler type point chiseler who isn't great in his end is probably the best case scenario.

It wouldn't be a bad thing if Dubois shoes any kind of consistency as am elite center. Thay and him electing to stay.
