@Xspyrit i guess the moves made by adding Kubalik and Tarasenko were the mitigation for potentially not having Pinto. Did Dorion learn from the Formenton situation ?

Holy f*** Pinto noooooooo. This is not good, at all. I don't even care if he is signed to a QO, wonder how they found out. Without knowing the details, 41 games seem harsh for someone who is currently an inactive player.
Don't gamble on the professional sport you play. It's that simple lol. You can't have players even looking like there is a chance of impropriety.

Well at least when he re-signs it will be at league minimum.
Maybe we can even get him on a 2 year deal at league minimum lol

The exact timeline is unclear at this point, but it’s believed the investigation — which began sometime during the summer — intensified over the past few weeks. All negotiations to sign him were paused as the NHL conducted a recent hearing into the matter.

Might add some context as to why Pinto hadn't been signed yet
So the team knew about the gambling investigation and didn't even hint at it while they continued to get clobbered by the fans and media for not having this guy signed and in the lineup. I think there's a lot of people on this board who owe management an apology.

What the actual F*ck lol
2/3 of our elite 3rd line are currently ineligible to play for the Sens for non hockey reasons.

Unkfu*cking believable.

5-1 he signs the qualifying offer now.

If you add in, he will play 20+ games and make it parlay, I will up the odds to 10-1.

How would the league even find out, unless someone who really wanted him suspended snitched?
or he has run into issues paying and so maybe one of the gambling sites has launched legal means.

That pretty much is in the public domain.

it is how the league finds out about all indiscretions.. think of someone being stopped for DWI.

I'm not saying I agree or not.

But the reasoning is that the player can get so deep in the hole that the bookie has leverage to force the player to start throwing games to play back the debt.
or just the appearance of association. Even if the player is a successful better... we can never be sure that he is not influencing to further his cause, or that of others.

Now the NHL is the WWE

A lot of really dumb looking “experts” in here
It's a fan discussion forum. Obviously discussion was going to be under the assumption that it was a typical holdout, and not that Shane Pinto was still unsigned because he was betting on synchronized diving or whatever

That's only the case if you're gambling with an illegal book. Which maybe Pinto was. Not if you're gambling with Bet99.com, a reputable company that's a proud partner of the Ottawa Senators and NHL.

Guess not signing him is the right call, but who would have known about this under normal situations.
