Lol it’s his first game and you’re already pegging him as a 3rd liner

That was one of the most impressive first games for a Sens rookie I can remember

multiple takeaways/interceptions, great defensive positioning, good on draws. And
Had a couple shot attempts as well. Give or take 10 mins of ice time too.

If you look at my post history, you’ll see I’ve always questioned his possibility as a top 6 C. I loved his game tonight.

I don’t think it’s exactly a negative. I think he could be a top 6 C, I just don’t know if he sees the ice well enough to get by as one. Stone is a bit of an odd comparison in that sense, considering Stone sees the ice extremely well.

Agree to disagree I guess! I haven’t seen much of him admittedly but from what I’ve seen (few ND games) and this one... he seems to have very good anticipation which to me ties with seeing the ice well. Offensive awareness might not be on par with stone though for sure

One thing I noticed is the support he provided on the boards physically. It is such a relief to see our centerman go to the boards and be an asset instead of detriment to the play/cause. He handled the physical play really well.

I think he has a high ceiling. Doesn’t mean he’ll reach it, but he has a Bergeron-lite feel to him. Ice water in his veins, great faceoff guy with underrated offence.

Worst case scenario he will be a better version of Pageau imo

Yup this is what I see him as. A Brock Nelson type. Anything more is just jackpot.

Didn't get to watch the game, but just saw the highlights package of him. I think a few posters thought skating was his weakness, but the kid looked very mobile, seemed quick.

He's got some great instincts, knows where to be, was good cutting off some plays.

Sean Couturier - lite.

I sort of agree he seemed quick but it was more high energy. If he can keep that high energy and start regularly getting on the scoring sheet he could be a great player.

As far as debuts go for the more 'project' type of players, it was a solid one. He was high energy. He got all the details right - faceoffs, defensive positioning, anticipating plays.

There were times he bobbled the puck in the offensive zone but there were so few opportunities in general for both teams it's hard to evaluate him on that.

Really good debut. High hopes for him now.

With Formenton wearing #59 & Pinto #57 they look a lot alike on the ice & Pinto is pretty damn fast too. Ottawa is started to fill a lot of holes with their younger players & create a lot of hope for next season.

Yeah Connor Brown had a 2 on 1 with what I thought was Pinto and made a tough pass over that almost led to goal, but it turned out to be Forms. Thankfully they’re different handed shots with Formenton being a lefty, makes it a bit easier.

Solid debut, first game and it sure didn’t look like it.

Obviously Norris is doing so well but anyone else have a feeling that Pinto will be better?

Better is always the hope. I have not figured out what Norris is yet he has 7 goals and 12 points in his last 14 games. I can’t tell if that’s a hot streak or just him being what he is.
He still has the chance to improve but in this short season who knows what’s what and how good the rest of the NHL is the top teams in the north might be 8th placers in a normal season.

Now that would be a kick in the nuts and a disaster if they feel good next year and get beat into last again

That was a better debut than I would have predicted for Pinto. He was something.

That's a tall order. Norris is blowing my expectations right now. The guy on pace for 50 points and 20 goals as a rookie playing with other similar rookies and no star power. Those are stellar numbers. I thought he'd average that as his career average. He also is on a tear of late almost PPG in last 14 with remarkable displays of dashes and shooting. If Pinto can be as impactful as Norris, we are going to be a scary team to play against.

Yeah, I saw a couple posters criticizing his skating and didn't quite get it. Everytime I saw him his skating was solid.

I tuned in and out of his first game and only caught a few of his shifts but he looked good to me.

And Sanderson, Kleven, Thomson, Sokolov, Greig, Crookshank, Abramov, Kelly, etc + goalies AND drafted players

Lots to be excited about for sure.

FYOUS could actually become a reality. I didn’t just type that.
