If Pinto becomes a poorman's Bergeron, we've scored. Bergeron is a hall of fame two way talent, i'll gladly take half of that for a second line centre. If Pinto exceeds that, even better!

I wouldn't be surprised if Pinto is the Sens best forward by the end of the season. And not because Norris/Batherson/Stutzle are slouches...

We have some pretty interesting young talents... Too bad the depth is god awful.

What kind of season would Pinto need to put up to be in the conversation for the Calder? He is relatively unknown around the league as a late blooming 2nd round pick.

If he is able to put up 50+ pts, and play 16+ mins a night contributing offensively and defensively I think he would be in the conversation.

I don’t think he will get to that level this season, but you never know. He seems to keep getting better very quickly.

Agree with you about Pinto. Maybe he/we all come back down to earth early into this next season. But as of today Im just not ready to deny what my gut is telling me - and this Shane Pinto is going to be a big time good player in this league. Brady, Karlsson and Stone are the only other players I've felt the same way about so early on in their careers.

But on our depth - I mean yeah as of exactly today, we're brutal. Its true.. But this situation goes from terrible to incredible possibly by the start of next season..

Alex Formenton, Colin White, Connor Brown and Nick Paul are already quality middle 6/bottom 6 depth players we can rely on. Then between Greig, Sokolov, Jarventie, Boucher, Ostapchuk, and Crookshank. And grinders/energy guys like Kelly, Kastelic, and Reinhart - thats 8-12 guys with a solid chance to add to our NHL depth at the forward position.

Sanderson alone transforms the D-corps. But Thompson, JBD and Kleven emerging as well pushes us into powerhouse territory imo.

So imho - patience is key here. Help is clearly on the way, and we dont need to get desperate and/or feeling hopeless just yet. By my honest count, if Pinto really does emerge as a legit #1/2a centerman - the right winger on his and Stu's line is the only thing missing from this being a legit contender in 2-3 seasons.

Yeah I have the same feeling as I had with Mark Stone when watching Pinto. Karlsson, Lehner and Zibanejad it was different because I knew almost right away they were going to be good (so I bought crazy amounts of their rookie cards)

Stutzle - Pinto - Jarventie/Sokolov
Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Formenton - Greig - Brown
Crookshank - Paul/White - Boucher
Kelly

Chabot - Zub
Sanderson - JBD
Kleven - Thomson

Benefit of burning 1 year off of Pinto's contract last year is that we can sign him to a 6-7 year contract after his sophomore year probably at a Batherson discount.

You'll be hard pressed to find a 22 year old not named Tkachuk that'll turn down 40 M after a 50 pt season.

I tracked Pinto so closely last year and I did not expect him to be this good this quick.

He has taken a notable step this offseason. This guy is going to be something special. Could be the missing link at C we need.

I was amazed that he stood out from the regular NHLers....that's impressive last night. We have a beauty

I mentioned this elsewhere, but Norris, the shooting centre might be a good fit with Stutzle and Brown, the playmaking wingers, with Pinto riding shotgun with Tkachuk and Batherson.
