to me it is all or nothing ... we have a 3 headed monster in shanabang, dubie and keefe ..... and any cuts have to be from the top down ...
do you want shanahan to make any important decisions? 7th year, 3 gm's, zero success ... how long does he get?
is he capable of making a good decision?
i do not for 1 minute believe everything done by dubas was not completely greenlighted by the boss ... should give mlse pause before allowing them any big moves

I wouldn't for sure but that's just me .. and we both smelt same old Soup everyday as kids .. does mlse (bell and rogers and larry) want to give another Babs severance package? rogers is not even in charge now so do they make a move without Ed there? but i agree Shanny greenlighted everything Dubie wanted and he should be held accountable .. if he axes Dubie and Keefer and says he is taking over temporarily as GM will he get some support ????????????? he might but then he is gone for sure if he can't fix himself

I wonder if Shanny told him if things don’t get better you need to break up this core it’s not working.

I don't think the guys really care about each other at all, just look at how they are playing on the ice. It's all "me, me, me". These guys just don't have "it". You can't teach "it". You have to be born with "it". The team is becoming thinner and thinner right infront of their eyes because of the contracts they took.
Nobody and I mean anybody who plays pro sports cares about anybody other than themselves. You don't believe me?

Just check out any contract negotiation other than ELC's. The player wants absolutely the most they can get and f*** the rest, because they are not going to leave one measly buck on the table. You can blame the agent/GM or greed it just doesn't matter. Players cannot for the most part see past their own noses.

Everytime I hear a star player saying that they took a discount to stay somewhere, while there may be some truth to it, all it usually amounts to is a minimum contract that doesn't change a thing.

Now let's just say Willie said OK I'll take 5m per, at the time it could have been considered a 1 to 1.5 discount, all that would have meant is that the next guy would've wanted more. Anybody remember Paul Kariya taking the big discount and what happened next?

This applies to prez, GM and coach too LOL .. they all took care of each other .. even ole Larry takes care of himself .. all on backs of TV, media, sponsors/advert, ticket subscribers etc ..

Boston says Hi.

And you are being traded.

Not only did they get Pastrnak to take less than Nylander, they made him feel it was pretty damn good.

"If you (told) me when I was 15 years old that I was going to be playing for $6 million a year when I was 22, I don't think (I'd have believed it)," said Pastrnak. "It's a dream come true for me. I'm happy with what I'm getting.

Yup 47 goal 88 point 28 year old center for free (but cap space) is the wrong move.
Yep with Marner on his wing and what is the genius move from management staff? Take Mitch off that wing and place him on Matthews wing cause maybe Matthews was grumbling a bit about not getting enough good set ups from Willie as were the fan base spurred on by the media.

The lunatics(media, players and fanbase) are running the the Maple Leafs asylum.
Until that stops this is what we'll always get, and that is, this never ending loop of a LeaFland fever dreams.

The Islanders have been better since Tavares left and the Leafs have been worse. as far as I know Tavares hasn’t won any personal awards in the NHL, no cup, but Dubas seem fit to pay him 11 million
What was it the media tagged JT with?

The greatest UFA to ever become available!

Well at least since Brad had everybody down on their knees kissing his ring, it's funny that the result is basically the same, a fading star being overpaid as he skates into his eventual retirement. You can say what you like about Burkie but he never fell for the hype, and walked away as fast as he could.

That's a good point. His free agent/trade acquisitions have tended to be slower skaters while the departing players have tended to be the opposite.
Da spreadsheet must say skill above all else .. team has so many balance issues in so many ways .. team building takes a long time to understand in any business .. rooks who think they have found a new and better way generally DON'T .. CAP has to be balanced .. forwards/Defense mix .. rooks/vet mix .. speed/skill mix .. forward line skill mix .. leadership vet mix .. we got every MIX in da hockey book WRONG with Dubie .. I can't think of any remotely correct .. he has completely changed da playbook .. all for a brand new thing people call ANALYTICS which is still in its infancy as per Dubie himself
