I think the team is lead by Tkachuk. He creates a work hard approach that Matthews and Tavares don't.
Maurice leads on the bench. Tkachuk on the ice.

However the Tkachuk factor is dwarfed by the Bobrovsky factor as the Panthers haven’t gotten much secondary scoring. Bob has been the difference in the first two games.

the leafs need to start Woll.

This series is the opposite of the 1st round. Tampa played better in 2 of the games that the Leafs won, but the Leafs were fortunate and got some bounces and took advantage of their few chances. Florida was outplayed in both games, not by much except last night the Leafs were the better team in the 1st and 3rd period, but like the Leafs in round 1, Florida got the bounces and took advantage. If this pattern continues the Leafs will be done soon.
PP in the 1st and desperation in the 3rd. If Samsonov doesn’t allow the stinker I bet there’s more of a push from Florida in the 3rd.

The Leafs seem to get “goalied” in the post season a lot more than other teams. Columbus, Montreal, now Florida?
unfortunately it’s a pattern that has continued with this management group. It’s telling that none of these goalies go on to success elsewhere either. - see Campbell as the most recent example.

that’s really their biggest failure as a management group.

however Dubas did draft Joseph Woll who looks like a legit NHL starter.

For all those fans wanting Florida and thought a series win was gonna turn this team into monsters lol we are what we are!
Big boys are too soft for playoffs
Lots of things need to be evaluated

Happy with a series win but streak of winless in round 2’s will continue

RIP there’s always next year!!
I agree if they don't win this series they ll be a major overhaul
Paying 40 million for core 4 didn't work .
Nice plays sometimes but this team was 1 of 16 good teams in the playoffs
I think if the Leafs lose this series a major change coming to Leaf brand

And just thinking their core 4 is way better than anyone else's
There are a lot of good players ,just not making 10 plus million a year

Need to figure out Bob & play a complete 60. Hope they bear down and not get frustrated and let the pressure get them.

You can sometimes get away with a 57min games in the regular season with talent, not round 2 of the playoffs.

I think we need a hail mary anyway at this point.

Losing two home games to start a series indicates problems.

Not being able to score in the last 55 minutes of the game isn't a good look.

I think we need shutouts to win. 1 Sammy mistake a game may be too much.

Keefe always reacts late (Holl, Knies). It's not his style to lead with bold moves.

Does anyone think changing Keefe out is going to suddenly make this team killers in the playoffs? Like Keefe isn't a bad coach. This team has never developed out of their instinct of puking all over themselves. If only Matthews was like 50% of Drai in the playoffs. That would be nice.
I think they get a better result with Babs

Was doing some chores, came in and it is 2-0.

Kind of watch for a few minutes and I hear 2-1.

Babysitting a neighbours' cat and house, so go over and watch the end of the 1st. period with the cat, no one else in the house so I don't have to hold back.

Found myself screaming at the players asking where the f* are their fricking heads. Poor decision after poor decision and they escape with a 1 goal lead. Like this throughout the season where you wonder if they know what they're doing. Talent is a great equalizer when structure is lacking, but only goes so far.

Go home and turn on Apple+ and watch a few episodes of See.

...

Sigh ... at least they won a round.

It’s not the number of goals Sammy is giving up. it’s the soft goals. Those are killers especially when you’re up against playoff Bobrovsky.

Woll wasn’t perfect but he was there best goaltender at the end of the season and he’s fresh. Sammy looks tired.

That could be true because the score would've been tied 2-2. Florida looked terrible in the 3rd, all they did was get the puck and flip it out of their end, there was no attempts to score. If Bob didn't play so well the result would be very different.

Yep. They got a few chances of their own, but we’re more concerned about not allowing a goal. Their goalie was good, but he didn’t make any 10 bell saves, just played solid positional goaltending.

There were some truly boneheaded giveaways and defensive lapses that game, but we mostly controlled the puck and kept it in the Panthers end.

Then they find themselves reverting to bad habits with the two goal lead, playing loosey-goosey with a counterpunch team rather than locking it down, and sure enough they cough one up. Followed by an almost complete collapse with the second and third goals. I could feel it in my bones in the last ten minutes of the third period, that we weren't going to tie it up. I kept watching but defeatism took over and the outcome felt inevitable.

All that offensive firepower and talent, and they can't find a way to solve thirty-four year old Sergei Bobrovsky, who was good, but didn't look unbeatable.

They still had almost 40 minutes to find a goal and could not. Keefe has no answers. It is the same old we got goalied when an opponent's goalie does his job and teams go into their defensive shells in front of their net.
100%

I can't believe how many people refuse to acknowledge this after seeing it over and over and over.

some footage of Florida in their defensive shell in front of their net. textbook stuff. no answers at all from this Leafs group.

he scored the 2nd and 4th goal of the blowout, after Cole had brought it to 3-1. Tavares deserves all sorts of criticism but to describe 'the blowout' like he was separate to it.
The post I was responding to had specifically denigrated Marner's and Nylander's goals because they were scored "in the blowout", while praising Tavares' three.

I wasn't complaining about his goals, just pointing out the hypocrisy.

Actually really frustrating that we weren't able to score in the third. We were throwing everything at them for a few minutes - a bit of luck and we're tied 3-3 and who knows after that. Those posts were killer last night.

Historically the team that goes up 2-0 in a series has won their series 87% of the time based on past results.

Leafs probability sadly of advancing currently sit at 13%.

"Disappointing. Baffling," Keefe said of the Maple Leafs' second-period play. "We didn't make those mistakes one time in the last series [in the first round against Tampa Bay]."
