Typical Leaf D-zone play.
Marner and Matthews wanted to go tic tac toe on some fancy stuff but Florida made a beautiful passing sequence and scored the way M and M wanted to. Definitely gross.
Typical Leaf D-zone play.
It was actually Lou who drafted Woll. Just sayin'unfortunately it’s a pattern that has continued with this management group. It’s telling that none of these goalies go on to success elsewhere either. - see Campbell as the most recent example.
that’s really their biggest failure as a management group.
however Dubas did draft Joseph Woll who looks like a legit NHL starter.
Historically the team that goes up 2-0 in a series has won their series 87% of the time based on past results.
Leafs probability sadly of advancing currently sit at 13%.
"Disappointing. Baffling," Keefe said of the Maple Leafs' second-period play. "We didn't make those mistakes one time in the last series [in the first round against Tampa Bay]."
They're blinded by how well Willy and JT mesh? Why is it so damn hard to learn that when you put Marner and Matthews at 5v5, they shit the bed with stupid ass fancy pantsy shit that has no place in the playoffs?
Why is it so damn hard to see this?
Fack…
The only "disappointing and baffling" part is why JT and Willy are still together, and Matty and Mitch are still together.Don’t know what Keefe is supposed to do about his players laying an egg to start the second period. Could argue that the Tavares line is the worst defensively so they shouldn’t have started the second, but when the line with the reigning Hart and Lindsay winner (in part due to his defensive play) and a Selke nominee also f*** up I have to agree with him, it was disappointing and baffling.
They’ve won 4 out of 6 periods already. One period at a time ain’t cutting it. They need to change the goalie.Big picture, the Leafs virtually lost the series on the Forsling sequence.
Now the Leafs are firmly in the underdog role and they’ll need to stop thinking about the series and just win one period at a time. The team loves adversity but I think they dug themselves a pretty deep one.
I think the break helps Florida more than the Leafs. They went 7 against Boston and after a loss you want to get right back in there instead of waiting and thinking about being down 0-2.disappointing result. Once again, we played well enough to win. To walk away down 0-2 after those first 2 games is a bit of a cruel joke. But then again, that's just how the game works sometimes. We seemingly got every bounce in the book last series, and we just cannot seem to get any this time around.
Not often you can show up for 2 minutes and win a game, but that is unfortunately exactly what happened for FLA.
Anyone counting us out of this series needs to take a chill pill. Of course there is reason for concern, but this is far from over. This 2 day break in between games benefits us far more than it will FLA. Who seemingly is playing the best hockey they've played all year long and caught lightning in a bottle with a run of otherworldly tending by Bob.
FLA may eventually win this series, but they cannot continue to play the way they have been and expect the same results. When the results stop coming, I expect a little bit of a fall from grace in all honesty. Trying not to take anything away from them, they have certainly created their own luck. They work hard, and they create turnovers. But they have no sustained pressure.
I said this yesterday, but they remind me so much of the 2020-21 Habs team. They are riding this wave of confidence. Largely backed by their tendy getting hot at the right time. They'll happily trade chances knowing that they have a guy who can make the key saves when necessary.
we had some pretty bad puck luck the last game. we hit like 3 or 4 posts. if couple of them went in, it'd be a different series.
i still believe in this team. we'll re-group and win two games in FLA. Keep the belief alive.
Lou also tossed Verhaeghe as a free extra into a trade for an AHL backup goalie to free an extra roster space that they didnt need or use.It was actually Lou who drafted Woll. Just sayin'
The goal samsonov gave up wasn't bad luck neither was the goal Forsling scored
We created our luck. This is a game of margins. We can't give two bad goals, take the period off and then expect to win
Good to see that not everyone can't think clearly and is back to name calling with the POV that everyone sucks from Shanahan down to the players.Bobrovsky does it again. That’s all. Better team again. Leafs win next 4.
Great post! I agree the break could help us more than them.disappointing result. Once again, we played well enough to win. To walk away down 0-2 after those first 2 games is a bit of a cruel joke. Interesting. I guess Justin Holl was replaced in the Tampa series for being mistake free.Historically the team that goes up 2-0 in a series has won their series 87% of the time based on past results.

When you're on a 5 game heater, the last thing you want is any form of disruption. That includes a break in play. If we can get the win on Sunday, there is another 2 day break going into game 4. Having 1 game in the next 5 calendar days is definitely not something that FLA will want. Especially given the fact that they are not playing a sustainable brand of hockey and are riding a hot goaltender.I think the break helps Florida more than the Leafs. They went 7 against Boston and after a loss you want to get right back in there instead of waiting and thinking about being down 0-2.
Yep it all starts with winning game 3 and making this a series. I've seen enough hockey over the years to know this is far from over. When you're on a 5 game heater, the last thing you want is any form of disruption. That includes a break in play. If we can get the win on Sunday, there is another 2 day break going into game 4. Having 1 game in the next 5 calendar days is definitely not something that FLA will want. It's cliché, but we just have to take this 1 game at a time right now. No need to hit the panic button at all. Winning 4 straight against this team is not even remotely close to being out of the question.
We've not lost because we haven't played well. We've lost because we losing our focus for a split second and it is costing us. It just is what it is unfortunately.
Yes, and they've been doing that every series for 7 straight playoffs. This is who they are. Anyone expecting they are somehow going to fix that, right now, down 2-0 is fooling themselves. We've lost because we losing our focus for a split second and it is costing us.
I think I've found the problem. Keefe hasn't been watching any of the games, or looking at the videos.Historically the team that goes up 2-0 in a series has won their series 87% of the time based on past results.
Leafs probability sadly of advancing currently sit at 13%.
"Disappointing. Baffling," Keefe said of the Maple Leafs' second-period play. "We didn't make those mistakes one time in the last series [in the first round against Tampa Bay]."
NO! Bad boy! You are not allowed to say anything good about Lou on this board. It was actually Lou who drafted Woll. Just sayin'
Cut him some slackPeople talking about goals
But when was the last time JT set up a 5v5 goal with an assist. Hell i can’t even remember the last time he’s set up nylander and Marner for a chance even half as good as the 3-4 he got today
Is it really more quality depth we need?We need more quality depth just not getting enough push through out the line up.
I remember reading an article in which a coach said if your team does better on the road than at home it's because the coach is relieved of his match-up duties and can't screw things up like he can at home. Let's see how they play on the road for the next 2. If they can pull a few wins out...The only "disappointing and baffling" part is why JT and Willy are still together, and Matty and Mitch are still together.
