Post-Game Talk: Sewart Skinner in the FLA Swamp

Why is Bouchard allowed to continue making mistake after mistake? We are 31 games into the season. Why aren't the coaches sitting down with this guy? Where the f*** is the accountability?
Been saying this for over a year. He just doesn't have the IQ and processes the game to slowly. (even in the Ozone)

He's got a good shot. That's what he is.

so you think the goal Reinhart scored from behind the goal line was not as bad?

What world am I living in
This. In what UNIVERSE was that not the worst goal of the month? Let alone from yesterday's game.

In Skinner's mind, there's 1 guy 2 feet below the goal line with no support and no pass option. As a goalie, you should:

A.) Reverse VH B.) Reverse VH C.) Reverse VH D.) all of the above

Absolutely HORRIFIC goal. Not the worst goal of the night? SMH lol

Why would I bother, it’s the same not my fault skinner stuff about how the oilers give up higher danger chances.

Bobrovsky was terrible last night and still saved some high danger chances.

I thought it was posted here that Skinner saved 2 of 6 HD and let in 2 that weren’t HD at all. Bob went 7 saves on 13 HD.

As bad as this place gets, at least it’s not Reddit. Some weird takes on there (like wanting a rematch between these two teams - doubt Florida makes the finals again for one thing). And they’re all Stewy lovers so dissenting opinions would get downvoted to oblivion

Figured this wouldn't be Bouch's night when he tripped over the centre line and allowed a clear breakaway. and then Stu couldn't come up with a save against a 4th liner. Everytime I looked after a Florida goal, there was Bouch, somewhere in la la land. One of his worst sleepy games. And Stu was bad enough too, couldn't cover up for any of the miscues.
You knew the night wasn't going to end up well when you see our best dman this year have a clear cut breakaway after coming out of the penalty box, and stumble and trip going over the blue line. Oh well, on to the next one and hope we got this out of our system!

No. He has elite IQ and processes the game fine. If he didn’t he wouldn’t have had a Paul Coffey level playoff stretch.

Bouch is struggling right now, his timing is off. Last night he tried to push the play making too much and the Panthers focused him down and made him pay. He’ll adjust his game and keep it within his limits.

Ekholm had a horrific game last night too. I think 2 giveaways leading to goals against. The Florida forecheck had our D in fits, we knew who they were and let them off the hook.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen Nurse trip over his own feet like that. For all his perceived faults, he doesn’t ever f*** up in his elite skating.

There was an air of nerves in last nights game. And air of a lack of composure.

Playing the team that stopped you 1 game from a Cup is going to bring out some emotions and therefore bring out uncharacteristic mistakes throughout the lineup. We saw that last night. The team wanted to put the series to bed by p beating the Panthers, but they wanted it so bad they got out of their comfort zone and identity and the mistakes started piling up. The panthers forecheck also seemed to give these guys PTSD that they couldn’t handle.

I would love a coaching change. Someone who benches players. Makes players SKATE to get off the f***ing ICE and get fresh legs on who then SKATE AND PRESSURE THE f***ING OTHER TEAM OH MY GOD. Knob is a f***in clown gets dummied by the best of coaches and McD's leadership has been shit lately the whole room needs to wake up and send Derek Ryan into the sun already.

Our scouts need to be better. We stick to slower guys like Derek Ryan, etc. Then you have an absolute menace like Kiefer SHerwood sign for 1.5M and throws up to 10 hits a night lol. I remember watching him in that Nashville series and then being pissed he signed in VAN.

Got a Hatty last night

We would never be in on that type of guy b/c we don't even look for it. We stick to our own and/or make some dumb signings (skinner and Arvy is questionable b/c of injuries).

Your bottom guys need to work like they are going to get sent down.

You need to step away from this team for a bit. I thought I was getting too emotional but this is next level. A coach firing? Now? Really?!

Not even going to comment on the McD leadership. That's just beyond ridiculous.

The Oilers need to figure out how to respond when a team starts running around and trucking you all night.

A bad but legal hit on JSkinner and they stand there like deer in the headlights not knowing what to do.

We aren’t built to play the same way as the Panthers. They are scouted and built on their abilty to hit and shit disturb.

Maybe Take the fight off ice. And make it a real fight. Throw the gloves off and force these panther dirtbags to put their money where their mouth is.

A fight immediately following that JSkinner hit would have stopped play and prevented us from giving up a 3 on 1 by the way.

In fairness, we really exposed Vegas' trash defense both games - Hill just stood on his head the first one. I'd love Hill over California Closet man.
And I’d love Sorokin over Stu. And Kaprizoff over Brown. And Prime Mario Lemieux over Nuge.

Like what is this argument even? We don’t have Hill and he’s not available. We have Stu and a hodgepodge of mid to shit tier goalies are available on the market that we can fit under our cap structure.

When it mattered, Bob stoned Drai on that open net in the dying minutes. Skinner crumpled like a mental midget, despite being so dominant the past month. I still want to give him some overarching credit for his play the past month, but also feel like this was the biggest game of the year so far and he just reverted; everything prior doesn't matter in some ways. I am conflicted but time to move on.

Completely agree...what you have accuratley highlighted here is due to the fact that this team isnt built to play the game Florida plays. Florida can absolutely run their show.

This team is soft...there is no denying that.
They almost never have a meaningful response to a dirty hit and almost never initiate hitting.

Are they too soft?
I think they are but Knoblauch doesnt seem to be the least bit concerned about it.

Kane will add some physicality when he returns but yes i agree that they are too soft. They play some hybrid of the Dallas Eakins school of "hits are bad" style of play and it's not a great look.

Been better lately? Let's be real he couldn't have been any worse to start the season. The only way to go was up....
That's all you hear about him. Ayyye don't worry. Calm down.

"let's see what happens in a few more games"

Like where else do you go when you start off down in the trash heap? You can only go up lol

Morons could have had Blackwood

916 in November and 930+ this month

I agree.
Kane will help but its going to take some time for him to get up to speed. Its not unusual for a player to miss that much time (especially the start of the season) and take half a season or more to get his feet under him.
Hopefully that isnt the case for Kane.

Im tired of seeing this team get its lunch handed to them physically. Its not enjoyable to watch at all.
I appreciate teams that have the ability to impose themselves physically. To change the flow of the game by being the hammer.
That just isnt on the menu for this team...they are the nail most of the time.
Knoblauch does seem to embace the Eakins approach in that regard and (like you) I am not a fan of that.

I think back to that Avs series. And I think back to Bowman-era Hawks. These were skilled and fast teams like us, that weren’t built like the Panthers but they always gave as good as they got.

Hawks could get dirty when they needed to. An errant elbow to Sedins jaw to help you win? Superstar Defenceman Duncan Kieth’s got it covered. A slew foot on Drai to hobble him while he’s already injured? Superstar MacK’s has got you covered.

If we aren’t built like the Panthers we better find a way to give as good as we get. I think McDrai and friends need to get dirty in ways they never thought they could if we ever want to push past the best in this League. Outskilling them can only work for so long, once prison rules playoff hockey sets in, you better be ready to play in that jungle. Shank or be shanked.
