No worries ! Use the Habs as a go-between - Jones and a 1st go to Montreal for Future considerations, Nylander and a 1st go to Montreal for future considerations, and the future considerations turn into Nylander and Jones ! Voilà ! Win-win all-around !Cap works if a Nylander for Jones trade were to get done in the summer. Wouldn't even require Toronto to move a contract.
The problem is that Kyle hates Kyle.
The trick is to find a 6 or 7 year deal elsewhere to set up a deal.Problem is that it’s an 8 yr contract. That will be a big problem in 4 yrs. It’s buy out proof. Chicago probably needs to retain $3.5M on that To have any team be able to attempt to swallow it.
So, rumors are that the Hawks are going to talk to their top players and ask if they want to stick around. If Jones asks for a trade, what can the Hawks get back in a deal?
This is his player card from Dom L. this year
If it weren't for the NMC, that would be a very smart suggestion.Tavares for Jones.
Two high cap players within a similar age range(27 vs 31). Leafs save 1.5 million on cap and the Hawks only have JT's contract for 3 more years after this year. Leafs take some added risk with the length of the contract but Jones is young and has a good track record. Solidifies the Leafs D, saves space. And Leafs would in turn better allocate money for a forward and well balanced roster. Tavares could actually be flipped in 1-2 years. With some serious retention. And yield extra assets for the Hawks for a rebuild. JT is still a solid player. Despite struggling this year is still a sub ppg player.
JT has a NMC so this would never happen.
Those backloaded signing bonuses make the contract buyout-proof and Sabres should expect to have a big payroll by 2025. They should resist the temptation to take this on.Buffalo may be interested pairing him with Power or Dahlin and has the cap space. Maybe something like Ryan Johnson + FLA 1st.
>wants to win
>chigaco
pick one
Tying up $19M in Jones and Skinner for 6 years while you’ve got talent like Dahlin, Power, Cozens, Quinn, Krebs, etc. coming in and eventually needing money seems like a bad idea.Buffalo may be interested pairing him with Power or Dahlin and has the cap space. I'd imagine the Hawks would have to take Skinner to make it work.Tying up $19M in Jones and Skinner for 6 years while you’ve got talent like Dahlin, Power, Cozens, Quinn, Krebs, etc. coming in and eventually needing money seems like a bad idea.
What’s the point then, lol.I'd imagine the Hawks would have to take Skinner to make it work.
Make the return better. They need assets. What’s the point then, lol.
Don’t think either team gets much of a return on that. Honestly, BUF probably gets the better of it because they’d owe Jones $67M compared to the $34M they’d have to pay Skinner.Make the return better. They need assets.
They also save 2 years on the back end.
Jones for OEL
Well, thirded?Makes some sense in a very sick, twisted way.
Jones doesn't want to play in Canada, it had already been reported that all Canadian teams were on his no trade list.If Jones wants to go to San Jose, Chicago can trade for Marc Edouard Vlasic + picks/prospects
There's also Shea Weber, but I doubt Jones waives to play in Montreal.
It had already been reported that Jones doesn't want to play in Canada, he's a good ole American boy that wants no part of the BS going on in Canada.Jones for OEL
Why would Hawks look to trade him?
He is only 27 yrs old and having a #1 dman in place would likely be good to accelerate a rebuild
And you need vets around kids coming thru especially on D
Who cares what contenders are going to do? Seth Jones doesn't need to go to a contender. He needs to go to a team that thinks Seth Jones helps them get closer to a contender/playoff status. Plus money has a funny way of opening up in the summer.
