Well, 4 of the 5 TSN hosts have us going to the WCF, but losing to the Preds or Jets. Even Craig Button likes us for a change, Ray Fararo, not so much..

I think Ray's a great broadcaster, but I don't think he enjoyed his time in LA as a player. He did come in at the worst time, peak Gretz hangover, and so he rarely says nice things about the Kings.

Which is fine. He's not an idiot about it like Roenick or Milbury or whoever else.

I see the path being available because the Pacific Division isn't as tough as the Central Division. I could also see the Kings bowing out in the 1st round. Ferraro isn't convinced and neither am I.

At my hockey draft all my buddies were higher on the kings than I am. I like the first round matchup but think LA will not get out of the 2nd round. I hope TSN is right.

Checking in here again. Go Kings Go. I said you guys were making it. Nice bounce back year for Kopitar, Brown, even guys like Lewis had big roles. Clifford had one of his best seasons and Muzzin looks back.

Its awesome Kings start on the road in Vegas. I think that's well suited for them. Got a rested Carter, Quick showing more battle, and I think you might see guys like Kempe, Pearson, and Toffoli notch it back up. I think Kempe, who has been cold, reminds me a lot of Glenn Anderson. Maybe he's got some playoff jam.

I'm excited for you Kings fans and I'll be cheering.

Another comment on how much the Kings wanted it, but down the stretch Kopitar had a 4 goal game, Carter a 3 goal game, and Brown a 4 goal game. (I'm probably missing some other stellar contribution) But all those performances were huge down the stretch and bagged wins. Such money performances by the respective players in critical times.

Now its Kings season. Now all the clubs have to play playoff hockey.

Ray is very fair and complimentary, and to the point, in his broadcasts toward the Kings. When we deserve praise we receive it from him. He’s not convinced by what he’s seen this year. Not many should be.

Agreed. Ray is one of the best in general and though he's noticeably pissy about his time with the Kings he doesn't let it affect his broadcasting. He's a pro.

Good luck tonight folks. LA's been my 2nd favourite team for years and for years my team hasn't been in contention so I've been following along. Hope you guys can overcome this random team of nobodies that seems good for no reason and end their cinderella run right off the hop.

Thanks man, just don't take Doughty from us! Good luck to the Leafs as well! I like Mathews over McDavid and would pick Matthews all day every day to start a franchise. The dude is strong as hell on the puck.

After reading on insider yesterday how Kempe had 16 goals in the first (apx) 50 and ZERO in last 29, was surprised. And how that began when Carter came back and
Kempe became C on 3rd line and minutes went down some. I now wish about 2-3 weeks ago, (when Kempe had 0 goals in about 20 of those 29 games) they put him back at 2nd line center and Carter on his RW.
Iafallo could have moved out of the top 6 and still had Toffoli, Pearson, Kopitar and Brown with Kempe and Carter as the top 6. When you have a 21 yr old
that scores 16 goals in the first 50 games, that's a legit top 6 player....and just in his first full year. A good chance Kempe would have kept that production
of a goal every 3 games and had another 10 goals in those last 29 games...or at least 7 or 8. ..especially having Carter, whereas he had Pearson and Toffoli
before. I'm just saying, why not have tried this 2-3 weeks ago and see how that could have worked. Get your best players going. it would not be like it was
a risk...Kempe can play and could not have hurt. Whereas Kopitar and Brown do not need Iafallo to be successful and Iafallo would be fine on line 3.

Man I think Doughty is just what we need.. We'll see how that plays out. :naughty:

But I'm of the opinion that McDavid is ahead of Matthews. Maybe not a lot but he is definitely ahead. Maybe Matthews can step his game up this time of year and prove me wrong?

LA is the underdog but I really feel like Vegas is fake news and LA is only wildcard because the division was so tight. It's a good matchup honestly, and I think LA can take them. I feel like the winner of this series is going to the conference final to get destroyed by Nashville or Winnipeg, but you never know! Half the battle is getting there.

Maybe pure skill McDavid is ahead, but from the games I have watched Matthews' overall game is far better. He is very underrated on the defense side (he has attributes of Kopitar), and could be far more successful in the playoffs. We will see. Both are elite players.

I don't like the fact that so many people are picking us to win this series.

Same. It’s still a dice roll as to whether or not this team will be a dumpster fire on a game to game basis.

With Carter in the lineup, they certainly have a great record, though. And Kopitar/Doughty/Quick can all take over series. But Vegas is definitely not fake news. They’re a very deep team, and extremely well coached.

This will not be an easy series for the Kings, even if they play well.

I think it's because many still believe Vegas is an anomaly playing over their head rather than anything the Kings have done. I don't think this series is hard to figure out at all. If it turns into a race, that favors Vegas. If the games are heavy and strategic, that favors the Kings. Since playoff games tend to be the latter, going with the Kings is just the safe choice for most prognosticators.

A lot of people haven't watched the Kings (not that I blame them, I don't watch other teams either) and buy into the narrative that these Kings are the same as in 2014. They believe the narrative that the core is the same and Quick is still 2012 Quick so the Kings have the perfect playoff formula. The 2012-14 Kings were relentless on the forecheck and excellent at cycling. Not to mention their 6 shut down d-men. These Kings are nothing like those teams.

True but I also think they know the roster has quick, doughty, Kopitar, Carter and to a lesser extent brown, and any team with that talent should be heavily considered to win most series’.

That's definitely true too. Kopitar is the Selke favorite. Carter is one of the top 5 second line centers in the league. Doughty will finish top 3 in the Norris voting. Brown had a great year. Quick comes up big when he has to. Pieces are there. It's the depth that's concerning.
