Guess we're getting a preview of the Doughtyless Kings once he signs a contract somewhere else.
Doughty will sign with the Kings. Once Vilardi comes in next season, the team takes a step up, offensively. Yes, he will make an impact his first year.
One reason why Blake has been signing players like Folin, Iafallo, Fantenberg, Brickley, is to fill out the team with under $1 million players.
Blake will continue to do this. He was also smart signing G - Cal Petersen, D- Austin Strand and G - Cole Kehler as well. The development team will continue to develop
prospects into players. With Clague, Amadio, Brodzinski and Jaret Anderson-Dolan 1-2 years away, bodes well also. JAD is going to be a great addition.
Cal Petersen may be Quick's replacement and when he comes in, will have a low salary and Quick's contract will open up a lot more room...I hope Quick
goes on forever, but Petersen may be the replacement. Austin Wagner may turn out to be a legit 3rd liner and will have a low salary.
DL did not have enough low salaried players and kept giving guys like Greene, Gaborik, and Stoll at least 2 more years on their contracts, then they should have.
This was detrimental to the future. Blake has impressed me in this area and these signings will go a long way to allowing him cap room that he will need.
All of these low salaried players greatly helps the cap situation and will give him room to sign Doughty. Why would Doughty want to leave?
