Those lines look so much better it’s not even close. I think hoping that the 70’s line can somehow get going is the Kings only chance at any kind of run.

what's wrong with Toffoli? He played 18:56 game 2. Compare that to (by memory, my numbers may be 1 minute off, but only a minute) Pearson 28, Lewis 27, Carter 29 and Rieder 23.
He was about 9 less than Carter and Pearson. That only happens if he is not 100%. You don't limit minutes to one of your top 4 goal scorers (Kopi, Brown, Carter, Toffoli) in 2 games
in which you have not had a forward score 1 freaking goal. Something is up.

Agreed, from what I can guess it seems to be in the hands or wrists. He’s not taking shots with no back swing

The margin of error in both losses came down to special teams. The only way for the Kings to hope to beat Vegas is via the PP. What is costing them is gritty forwards taking more penalties than scoring goals. Vegas gave up scoring to get defense without giving away their forecheck.

The Kings need to give up gritty play to get scoring without giving away defense. Seeing tonight’s lineup gives me low expectations for a win.

For the next 48 hours, I'm taking a shot whenever I hear anything about how the Kings came back to beat the Sharks after being down 3-0. No matter where I am.

LMAO

I mean I wouldn't blame anyone on the main board because they may not follow the teams so much (I also had e.g. the Leafs & Ducks winning their series), but come on... We here should've known better.

That's what we get for being slightly optimistic that this team would wake up from its slumber. Sadly, they proved that what most of us expected was a reality. This team is extremely mediocre.

Have to admit I voted with my heart and not my eyes.

I think most people figured that since Carter had 13G and 19pts in the 21 games he's played since getting back, that he wouldn't look like he has. He hasn't been able to compete at a playoff level. Even Toffoli had 5G and 13pts in those same 21 games. Pearson had 5 goals in those 21. Between the two of them, going by the combined 10 goals in 21 games, they should have about 1.5 goals, which would be huge in this series. Toffoli missed on his best chance, and that's that. Take out Brown's 4 goal game, and he still has 7 in 21.

Game 2 is understandable. Game 1 and 3 though, to come up with almost nothing offensively, is the real issue. Especially Sunday. They've had trouble at home against good western teams all year though, so, whatever.

They have another gear. We've seen it a couple times this year, where the whole team bought in. More often on the road for some reason. They can't seem to sustain it though. Not enough to win many playoff games, and certainly not a series.

12 different defensemen in their last 8 playoff games. They used 10 different defensemen in the 64 playoff games between 2012 and 2014.

I hope the Kings just shut up and play, and play with pride.

Who would have thought that after three playoff games, the only goals scored in the series would be from Iafallo, LaDue, and Kopitar.

This team could use some goals, especially from players who are paid to score.

Nobody made him answer for it on the Kings, either. We got soft, real fast.
It's been that way for years. Nothing new. Was it in 2015 when Calgary was on an 8 game losing streak, came to LA, were down 3-0, and then that guy on Calgary absolutely obliterated Kopitar? No one on the Kings did anything, Gaudreau scored a hat trick, Calgary won in OT, and the Flames went on a huge run to make the playoffs while the Kings missed. After the season one of the Calgary players pointed to that exact game as the turning point of their season.

Edit: Think that was when the whole Johnny Hockey thing started too. I may be exaggerating on that part though.
