The biggest negative for the Rangers will probably be their horrid play on faceoffs.

Looking forward to watching the continuing magic of Boyle.

Dunno what it is, but as we get nearer and nearer face off time, I'm getting more and more confident that Rangers are gonna come through this.

After the scheduling shambles of the Pens series, the extra day or 2 rest will be a God-send to our boys, and with the belief and confidence they appear to have in one another right now, could make us a very difficult team to beat.

I voted for Rangers in 7. Closing a series is one of the hardest things to do (so I've heard). It's been a while since we've done otherwise. Hey, they (specifically Hank and others) have said they LOVE game 7's.
Ending it in 6 on home ice, would certainly be much, much better. Split the first 2, then home cooking the rest of the way. Wooohoo!

Just wanted to send some good vibes for a good series to our new rival. There's a total absence of dislike for the Rangers in Montreal. In the newspapers, on the radio, among fans -- we dig most of the Rangers players, we have a soft spot for MSL's family situation, we admire Lundqvist's swagger, we even like New York's team colours.

Great city, great team. Most Habs fans will be cheering for the Rangers if they go onto the SCF, our underdog brothers wearing the other bleu, blanc et rouge jersey. Let's have fun!

Personally, I have a pretty good feeling about this series - better than I had about us vs. Pittsburgh (mostly because of the horrific schedule which almost sucked the life out of the team). Boyle on that:

“no, honestly, I have never seen guys that tired. We don’t use anything as an excuse and he said first and foremost that we could do more but I didn’t think he was trying to take a bullet for us, he was telling it like it is and he is pretty good at that too.”

Anyway, moving forward, I think we've got a few things in our favor:

Leadership group of St. Louis, Richards, Hank, G, Staal, etc... This group holds each other accountable when the chips are down and elevate when most necessary.

This group isn't nearly as beat up as the 2011-2012 team was going into the ECF's.

This group is A LOT deeper than the above group. Might not like Sather, but in the credit where credit is due dept., he has improved this team

You have to ask yourself "what path would be optimal for the Ranger to reach the Cup given the seedings"? I think this is about as good as you could've hoped for. I like this matchup. Sure, Montreal is here for a reason, but they don't scare me. An elevated Malkin and Crosby scare me. Montreal doesn't.

I concur, you can even see a lot of similarities between the Habs and Rangers (blocking shots, borderline annoying to play against, fantastic goaltending, etc). I think this series is great for the sport of hockey, and you'd probably have to say this matchup in the playoffs has been overdue! Best of luck in the series, it should definitely be a classic!

My crystal ball just told me we're gonna play Chicago in the SCF, and win.

No worries, the Cup will return to New York City ;)

Mine said same. Chicago has been there, done that though. They can be had, obviously more offensive talent but we have advantages in defense and goal.
Wanna enjoy this round first........getting there is first thing to do.

Habs fan here coming in peace.
Just wanted to wish you all a great series. Its going to be fun to actually see some real hockey. Unlike Boston you guys are respecful. If you guys win this series, i hope you win the cup. Getting tired of all this talk about the West being to good for the East.

Dear New York Rangers,

Please do us a favor and eliminate the Montreal Canadiens. We know that we haven't always seen eye-to-eye; and we haven't always gotten along; but it's time to put that all aside for the greater good. There are MILLIONS of fans around the world rooting for you. Don't let us down.

Respectfully,

Boston Bruins fans.

This is the kind of post, that gets me VERY EXCITED, knowing that fans of other teams are rooting on us because of they're deep down hatred for other teams. Our Rangers (I have to believe) are a likable bunch and when push came to shove......and apparently are the lesser of 2 evils. I suspect there's many issues in Canada on whom to root for. I ONLY rooted for Montreal vs Boston because I thought it better for the Rangers. I normally root for just about any team that plays in our Country. (except Devils/Islanders)

Thanks for your post dude. Made me happy.

I'm not trying to make it seem as though Montreal's an incredibly physical team. They're not. Just that there's no distinguishable size advantage to speak of, and in fact, Montreal's got a good amount of size at this point.

If you feel that size and physicality will play a major role in this series, well, that's fine. I disagree. We'll see on Saturday. :)

So true. Montreal only HAD TO play a more physical game than they would have liked because they played their in division rival Bruins who always play that way. They'd prefer to do speed and finesse though. I give them tons of credit for toughing it out.

This series will be like a racetrack. Speed vs speed. I believe we CAN BE the more physical team and "wear down" some of their mighty mites that Boston couldn't catch. Hopefully, we don't "have to".

We play our game, they play their's and I'm pretty sure we'll oust them. We just have to do a better job at finishing. Stepan has been M.I.A. maybe he's hurting? This rest should help all of our players, but I'm focusing on him. I think he's going to be more "noticable" then Nash will finally score more than a few.
This is going to be Nash's series. He's Canadién, and would probably love nothing better than to stick it to em'. He'll get off his schneid, then proceed with at least 3 maybe 4 goals.

If the regular season is any indication, these could be some tight, low scoring games.

There will be plenty of speed, but these teams both know how to defend. Guy I'm most scared of wreaking havoc on the Rangers is PK Subban. I expect MSL to be our leading scorer this series.

eh I don't think either team really wants this to be "speed vs speed", they want to keep their own speed while slowing down the other team. We'll see how well they do that

It doesn't look good. MTL never takes penalties (cue me whining about refs haha) and their PP is deadly. Someone has to get into the heads of Price and PK.

I absolutely see it going that way. Two really good defensive teams. Rangers offense vs Montreal defense will decide the series.

Thanks man! Same to you.

Yeah, this bandwagon loyalty thing is both cool and bizarre. You guys get the recently-wounded Bruins fans and Leafs fans. Montreal gets the frustrated Penguins fans, as well as the Devils and Islanders fans who haven't already switched to baseball or street mugging.

It's like two unholy Game Of Thrones alliances (which would make Leafs fans the 'Unsullied').

Bruins fan coming in peace.

Please, please beat those mother****ing Habs.

I will be cheering the Rangers on for sure.

The Rangers top line will finally have to score for them to have a chance to win this series. Just getting some secondary scoring won't be enough this time.

I don't think we win this series without a goal from Nash. Just a gut feeling, and I'm not super sure we're going to get it. Sure, sometimes in the playoffs, stars fade and depth shines, but to have you biggest goal scoring threat essentially absent all by himself doesn't bode for long term success. Montreal in six I said, but I would love to be wrong so much.

Our top line? It has been scoring. Everyone has been scoring except for Rick Nash. Ignorance.

Really? Kreider has one goal on the powerplay. Stepan hasn't scored since game three in Philly. That's one goal in the last eleven games from our top line. That's not good.
